BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After defeating Duquesne on the road Saturday to move to 3-0 on the season, two members of the Lehigh football team earned Patriot League weekly awards Monday. Senior linebacker Tyler Ochojski was named Defensive Player of the Week while sophomore Connor Poole garnered Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Â
Both players made major contributions as Lehigh defeated Duquesne 35-21 in its first road game of the 2025 campaign.
Â
Ochojski made five tackles in the win at Duquesne and contributed two key sacks to another strong Lehigh defensive effort. His first sack came in the first quarter and created a nine-yard loss forcing a third Duquesne punt. Late in the fourth quarter with the Dukes down 14 points and driving, Ochojski came in off the edge and hit Tyler Riddell hard, forcing a fumble that fifth-year Dillon Sheehan recovered. Lehigh was ultimately able to run out the clock.
Â
For the season, the Freehold, N.J. native ranks third on the team with 14 tackles and has three tackles for loss through three games. The two sacks were a single game career high for Ochojski.
Â
Poole had a big day punting, averaging 52.4 yards on five punts, all of which came in the first half. He booted a career-long 57 yarder in the second quarter and later added a 53-yarder that went out of bounds at the Duquesne 15. After a 3-and-out, Lehigh got the ball back and quickly scored a 54-yard touchdown that put the Mountain Hawks ahead for good. Poole also kicked off six times, averaging 58.0 yards with three touchbacks.
Â
The Williamsport, Pa., product currently ranks fifth in the FCS in punting, averaging 46.4 yards over 13 punts, with five downed inside the opponents' 20 yard line.
Â
Also on Monday, sophomore quarterback Hayden Johnson garnered honorable mention recognition. Johnson had his best statistical day throwing the football for the Brown and White, passing for a career-high 224 yards while matching career highs with 17 completions and three touchdown passes.
Â
Lehigh (3-0, 1-0 Patriot League) is ranked 10th in both the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll, marking the first time since November 2012 that the Mountain Hawks were ranked in the top 10 in both major polls.
Â
The Mountain Hawks will play their second Patriot League game of the season on Saturday when they travel to Bucknell. Game time is set for 6 p.m. with broadcast coverage on ESPN+ and audio coverage on FOX Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM and LVFOXSports.com.
