Lehigh Drops Strong 11-10 Battle Versus Colgate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - In a close-fought battle, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks fell 11-10 to Colgate on Saturday in Bethlehem.

Angelina Pino and Kacie Wines led Lehigh with three goals apiece.Â

Opening the game, Lehigh jumped out on a 3-0 lead, featuring goals from Wines, Pino and Grace Martel. Colgate's Aubrey McMahon broke up the run as Lehigh led 3-1 with 10:34 to go in the first quarter. Pino struck again shortly after, giving Lehigh its biggest lead of the game at 4-1.Â

The Raiders quickly erased the deficit to close out the first quarter, responding with three goals to tie it up 4-4 heading into the second..

Colgate struck first in the second at 13:00, taking a 5-4 lead. The next goal of the contest came at 6:29 as Wines evened the score at 5-5. Pino gave Lehigh the lead heading into halftime, as Lehigh held a 6-5 advantage.

Colgate got on the board first in the second half, once again evening the score. At 11:05 Quinn Meyer scored a goal off an assist from Wines as the Mountain Hawks took a 7-6 lead. Colgate responded with two goals in less than thirty seconds, grabbing an 8-7 advantage. Wines tied it up with 3:34 on the clock, as the teams headed into the fourth quarter knotted at 8-8.

At 12:53 in the fourth quarter, Gracie Shoup scored a free position goal, giving Lehigh the lead. Colgate responded at 10:40, before gaining momentum and adding two more to take an 11-9 lead with 7:06 on the clock. At 4:39, Grace Martel scored a player-up goal, giving Lehigh its own momentum heading into the final minutes.

In the final minute, Lehigh got a stop as Lauren Warfield picked up a groundball. The Mountain Hawks chances were thwarted by a turnover as Colgate held on to secure the Patriot League win.

Colgate held a 15-10 advantage in draw controls, with Molly Snow picking up four for Lehigh. Pino, Julia DiConza and Lauren Warfield each added one caused turnover.

Julia Delitta made 14 saves and gathered two groundballs, while Colgate's Lauren Solis made 11 saves.
