School Record, Five First-Place Finishes Highlight Women's Weekend At Indoor Classic

PHILADELPHIA – A school record, five first-place finishes and a few all-time top 10 additions highlighted the two-day Widener Indoor Classic, with most events taking place Saturday at Penn's Ott Center. The Mountain Hawks' 4x400m relay team consisting of junior Grace Kennedy, first-year Lauren Bower, senior Svea Wickelgren and junior Abby Klebe closed out the meet by setting a school record, winning the event with a time of 3:48.53. Kennedy and Wickelgren were part of the previous record-holding team (3:52.19), set last year at the Patriot League Championships along with Stephanie Webb and Kasey White.

THROWS
Throwing events kicked off action Friday at Widener, with junior Grace Aggen winning the shot put with a throw of 14.14m. First-year Emily Kolodziej finished third with a mark of 12.48m, while first-year Oliva Dubrow was the third Mountain Hawk in the top five with a PR of 12.22m. Sophomore Avery Dowkus (12.21m) and first-year Madeline Hussey (11.76m) gave Lehigh five of the top nine finishers. Dowkus led Lehigh in the weight throw, finishing fourth with a throw of 15.29m, while junior Jennifer Whipple finished 11th with a toss of 13.86m.

MID-DISTANCE/DISTANCE
Lehigh had five of the top 11 finishers in the mile, including four PRs. Senior Lauryn Heskin earned the win in 5:01.70, followed by senior Maddison Hayes in 5:03.07. Sophomore Hope Trimmer took fourth in 5:04.37. Junior Dakota Russell was seventh with a time of 5:08.21 and sophomore Grace Hughes ran a 5:11.05 to finish 11th.

Klebe won the 800 meters in 2:08.35, with Wickelgren finishing in second place. Wickelgren's time of 2:10.28 is a PR and moves her into third place all-time at Lehigh. Junior Amber Barrios finished fifth with a PR of 2:16.77.

First-year Chloe Browne finished eighth in the 5000 meters, with a time of 19:00.03, while first-years Kaitlyn Highduch (10:23.57) and Elizabeth Ehrhardt (10:33.13) finished third and 10th, respectively in the 3000 meters.

SPRINTS
Kennedy won the 400 meters with a time of 56.01, improving on her second all-time mark. Bower was eighth with a time of 59.47, while Webb posted a season-best 59.58 to finish 10th. Junior Gianna Mangili led Lehigh in the 200 meters, finishing 13th with a season-best time of 25.96. White (26.02) and Webb (26.10) also posted season-best times. Mangili made the finals in the 60 meters, running a 7.77 in the preliminaries and finishing fifth with a finals time of 7.79. Senior Shelby Dejana made the finals in the 60 meter hurdles, running a 9.17 in the prelims, and finishing third in the finals with a time of 9.10.

JUMPS
First-year Corinn Brewer posted a second place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.80m to tie for fourth all-time. Junior Laura Reigle finished fourth with a season-best effort of 3.80m. Juniors Sarah Goode and Lena Perlmutter tied their personal bests, clearing 3.35m.

Senior Izabel Fronc led Lehigh in the high jump, finishing third by clearing 1.65m. In the long jump, senior Lillian Mauger finished third to lead the Mountain Hawks, with a leap of 5.52m. Junior Grace Nation finished sixth to lead Lehigh in the triple jump, with an effort of 11.46m.

The Mountain Hawks will be back in action Friday at the Bucknell Tune-Up, the final meet before the Patriot League Championships, March 1-2 in Annapolis, Md.
