4x100m Relay Ties School Record in Ninth Straight Win Over Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. - The Mountain Hawks faced off against Lafayette in The Rivalry. The Mountain Hawks won 16 of 19 events, earning the 126-77Â victory over the Leopards. They extended the outdoor win streak to nine in-a-row, completing the sweep in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track and field.
Maggie Scalzo, Harper Glennon, Faith Schiffer, and Gianna Mangili tied the school record in the 4x100 meter relay to win the event. The squad ran their lap in 46.95.
"Out 4x1 tied the school record and it's three freshmen and one senior," said head coach Khayla Atte. "The women are in a good position because because we have strength across all of out classes."
Mangili, Glennon, and Schiffer all placed in their individual events. Mangili won the 100m dash, clocking 12.09. Glennon was right behind her at 12.10 as the runner-up. Schiffer finished third at 14.96 in the 110 meter hurdles. Lyssi Penn took the win over the hurdles, running a 14.65-second race.
Lehigh won all four jumping events. Lehigh swept the top three spots of the long jump. Grace Nation took the win, clearing 5.34 meters. Charlotte DeForest was the runner-up with a 5.08-meter jump, and Brewer leaped 5.05 meters to place third. Nation and DeForest were also the top two finishers in the triple jump. Nation won the event with a 11.96-meter jump, and DeForest jumped a personal best 11.03 meters to take second. Laura Reigle took the pole vault victory, jumping 3.88 meters. Sarah Goode placed third, clearing the 3.43-meter bar. Anna Troutman won the high jump, clearing 1.63 meters. Melanie LaCorte placed third, jumping 1.53 meters.
Lehigh swept the 400 meter race, all in personal best times. Jade Sanders won the event in 54.88, a 0.3-second improvement on her second all-time mark. Kayleigh Jamieson lowered her personal record by 1.85 seconds to finish as the runner-up. The first-year ran 56.18, putting her fifth on Lehigh's all-time outdoor performance list. Kasey White finished third in 56.61, moving her up to seventh on the performance list. Sanders also led a sweep in the 200 meter race, as she won the event in 25.16. Mangili was the runner-up with a 25.23-second race, and White was third in 25.52.
The Mountain Hawks also swept the 1500m run. Lauryn Heskin won the race in 4:23.68, a seven-second gap on the rest of the field. Grace Hughes finished as the runner-up, crossing the line at 4:30.54. Lucy Afanasewicz took third, running a personal best 4:30.96.Â
Grace Kennedy won the 400 meter hurdles in 1:01.07, leading the event sweep. Lanae Carrington ran 1:02.90 as the runner-up, and Adelaide Videon-Perino.
Lehigh won three of the four throwing events. Grace Aggen won both the discus throw and shot put. She threw the shot 14.01 meters, and tossed the disc 44.43 meters. Olivia Dubrow placed third in the discus, throwing a season's best 38.12m. Dubrow threw a personal best as Lehigh's top performer in the hammer throw. The sophomore threw 41.83 meters to place fourth. Sophomores Meghan Miller and Peyton Lewis secured the top two spots in the javelin throw. Miller won the event in 38.44m, and Lewis threw 37.59 as the runner-up.
Lehigh took the top two spots in the 800 meter run. Amber Barrios ran a personal best 2:11.07 to win. That time gave her the 10th spot on the all-time performance list. Lily Schindler also set a personal record as the runner-up, clocking 2:13.98.
Grace Trimmer ran a personal best to finish second in the 5000 meter run. The first-year shaved 11.83-seconds off of her previous record, running 17:36.99.
Both Lehigh scorers dropped personal bests in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Dakota Russell finished third, running 11:15.42. Jacqueline Gifford lowered her personal record by 6.68 seconds to finish fifth, crossing the line at 11:28.31.Â
Lehigh won the 4x400 meter relay by 11 seconds to conclude the meet. Schindler, Jamieson, Carrington, and Lauren Bower ran 4:00.76.
"The women showed that they have the continual depth to continue to dominate across events in the field and on the track," praised Coach Atte. "They just have incredible depth, and that's exciting."

Abby Klebe trekked to Princeton University on her own to compete in the 800 meter. She ran a season's best 2:04.59, finishing fifth.
Lehigh's final team competition will be the Patriot League Championships. They will be hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Md. on May 15-16.
