Reigle Wins Fifth Pole Vault Title, Lehigh Fifth After One Day of Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The 2026 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championship kicked off on Friday with the first of two days at Navy. Lehigh sits in fifth place with 14 points through the first day of competition.
Laura Reigle won her fifth Patriot League pole vault title to open competition for the Mountain Hawks. The senior jumped 3.98 meters, tying Navy's Helen Emerick, but edging out the Midshipman with one fewer attempt. Reigle completed the sweep after winning the indoor title earlier in the year, and secured her third outdoor title in her four years at Lehigh.
Three Lehigh runners advanced to the 1500 meter final on Saturday. Lauryn Heskin earned an automatic qualifier with a second place finish in her heat, running 4:28.61. Grace Hughes and Lucy Afanasewicz's times from heat one stayed among the best non-automatic time qualifiers, giving them the final two spots in the final. Hughes ran 4:30.96, and Afanasewicz finished in 4:31.61.
The Mountain Hawks had two qualifiers for the 400 meter finals. Jade Sanders improved her second all-time mark by 0.2 seconds to win the second heat, crossing the line at 54.86. Kayleigh Jamieson was the runner-up in heat one, running a 56.72-second race to earn an automatic qualifying spot in her first outdoor championship meet.
Harper Glennon ran a personal record to advance to the finals in the 100 meter dash by finishing second in her heat. The first-year finished in exactly 12 seconds, making her the fourth fastest 100 meter runner in Lehigh history. She jumped her teammate Gianna Mangili, who equaled her now fifth all-time mark of 12.04 to place 11th. Those two were also Lehigh's top two runners in the 200 meter, doing so in personal records. Mangili lowered her best by .31 seconds to 24.72 in the final individual race of her career, placing 11th. Glennon's 24.94 was a .26-second improvement, placing her 20th. Mangili now sits at third and Glennon in seventh on Lehigh's all-time outdoor performance list.
Six-time defending champion Abby Klebe snuck into the 800 meter finals with the final time-qualifying mark. The senior ran 2:08.27 to place eighth overall, surpassing the ninth-place finisher in the final straightaway.
Two 400 meter hurdlers earned spots in the final. Grace Kennedy ran 1:01.68 to win her heat in her final championship meet. Lanae Carrington earned a time-qualifying spot by running a season's best 1:02.27, taking the seventh overall spot.
Faith Schiffer placed 10th as Lehigh's top 100 meter hurdle runner. The first-year ran a personal record 14.56, making her the ninth fastest Mountain Hawk all-time in the event. Lehigh also had a 10th place finisher in the long jump, as Grace Nation slotted in that spot with a 5.41-meter jump.
Olivia Dubrow represented Lehigh in the hammer throw finals, tossing the weight 39.78 meters to place 17th. Peyton Lewis placed 17th as well in the javelin throw. The sophomore threw the spear 34.66 meters.
Corinn Brewer and Anna Troutman currently sit at fourth and fifth, respectively, in the heptathlon. Brewer's day one performance featured personal bests in the 200m (26.49) and shot put (10.47m). Troutman's day was highlighted by a second place finish in the high jump (1.63m), and personal records in the 100 meter hurdles (14.95) and 200 meter (26.44).
Afanasewicz, Lauren Bower, Lily Schindler, and Amber Barrios made up the 4x800 meter relay team that closed the book on day one. The Mountain Hawk squad ran 9:01.90 to finish fifth and earn four points.
"The team had a spoiled performance on day one," said Head Coach Khayla Atte. "Laura reeled in another champ in the pole vault, additionally nine women will progress to the final on Saturday."
Day two of the Patriot League Championships will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m. All Patriot League Championships sessions will be aired on ESPN+.
