Klebe Wins Women’s 800m; Lehigh Finishes Fifth at Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Abby Klebe captured the Patriot League title in the women's 800m to lead the Mountain Hawks to a fifth-place finish at the Patriot League Championships with 72 points. Army West Point won the team championship with 201.58 points.
"The men's & women's team finished the season on a high note. The coaches are beyond pleased with the progress we have made as competitors. We are doing the necessary work of learning how to compete at the highest levels under extreme pressure. We experienced some amazing performances this weekend. More personal records, school records, facility records, medalist & champions," said head coach Khayla Atte.
Klebe captured her second consecutive outdoor Patriot League 800m title, winning in a facility-record 2:04.22 at Ingram Field. The senior controlled the race from the start and delivered a dominant championship performance to defend her crown and lead a key scoring effort for the Mountain Hawks. Klebe edged Cherokee Chambers, who finished second in 2:04.38. Klebe earned 10 points for Lehigh.
Graduate student Lauryn Heskin broke the school record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:18.99, finishing fourth to earn five points for Lehigh in a strong championship performance. Heskin finished just two seconds behind race winner Charlotte Richman of Army, who won in 4:16.25.
Jade Sanders placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 55.14, earning six points for Lehigh. Sanders finished just two seconds behind Bucknell's Alex Lea, who won the race in 53.17.
Grace Kennedy also placed third in the 400m hurdles, earning four points for the Mountain Hawks. Kennedy stayed in contention until the final stretch but came up just short of Boston University's Kendall Barnhart, who won in 58.91.
In the 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of Grace Kennedy, Kayleigh Jamieson, Kasey White and Jade Sanders placed third for the Mountain Hawks, earning six team points with a time of 3:43.85. The Mountain Hawks finished less than five seconds behind Army, which won the race in 3:39.42.
In the heptathlon, senior Corrinn Brewer finished third, earning six points for Lehigh. Brewer won the 800m run and placed third in the javelin throw and fourth in the high jump en route to her third-place finish.
