Lehigh Wins Multiple Events in Four Days of Competition

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va./PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Lehigh women's track and field engaged in four days of competition this weekend across two meets. The Mountain Hawks competed in the Virginia Challenge from Thursday to Saturday, and took part in the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
Virginia Challenge
Javelin kicked off the action in Virginia as the only event on Thursday, and Meghan Miller was Lehigh's sole representative. The sophomore threw the javelin a season's best 36.39 meters to place 18th.
Seniors Laura Reigle and Grace Aggen were Lehigh's two field competitors on Friday. Reigle jumped a season's best 4.03 meters in the pole vault, placing her seventh. Aggen placed 23rd in the shot put. She launched the weight 13.60 meters. Aggen later placed 15th in the discus throw on Saturday, tossing the disc 45.01 meters.
Gianna Mangili ran a personal best in the 100 meter dash to open up track competition on Friday. She bettered her time to 12.04 as Lehigh's fourth fastest 100 meter runner all-time, and placed 35th at the meet.
Abby Klebe ran a season's best time in the 800 meter invite section. She placed seventh overall, crossing the line at 2:05.58. Amber Barrios ran in the open section on Saturday. The senior placed 26th in that field, running 2:14.91.
Two Mountain Hawks placed within the top 20 of the 400 meter hurdle event. Grace Kennedy placed 12th, running 1:01.39. Lanae Carrington dropped a season's best time to place 17th. The sophomore ran 1:02.39. The 400 meter success continued into Saturday with the flat 400 meter. Jade Sanders placed 11th in the event, running a 55.32-second race. Kennedy also ran that event, as she ran 57.68 to place 45th.
Lehigh had one runner in each of the two 1500 meter sections. Lauryn Heskin set a personal record in the invite field. The graduate student ran 4:22.88 to place 23rd, which bettered her third all-time mark for Lehigh. Grace Hughes placed 13th in the open section, running 4:30.73.
The Mountain Hawks concluded the meet with an eighth place finish in the 4x400 meter relay, running 3:50.84.
ECAC/IC4A Championships
Corinn Brewer won the Heptathlon at Rutgers University across two days of competition with 4890 points. The senior was aided by personal bests in the high jump (1.60m), shot put (10.11m), and 200 meters (26.82), as well as wins in the javelin throw (34.68m) and 800 meter (2:17.60). Anna Troutman placed fifth with a personal best 4212 points. She broke personal records in the 110 meter hurdles (15.01), 200 meter (26.71), and 800 meter (2:40.42) events.
Sophomores Brenna Dahlgren and Chloe Brown swept the field in their 10000 meter debuts on day one. Dahlgren took the win in 38:29.97, and Browne was the runner-up with her 39:31.92 finish.
Lehigh secured top 15 finishes in each of the other distance events on Saturday. Lily Schindler finished sixth in the 800 meter run. The first-year was one hundredths of a second off of her personal best time, running an impressive 2:14.61. Lauren Bower placed 14th in that event, crossing the line at 2:16.68. Jacqueline Gifford placed 12th in her 3000 meter steeplechase debut. The sophomore clocked in at 11:34.99. Hope Trimmer was Lehigh's top runner in the 1500 meter run. The junior ran 4:40.38, a season's best time.
Harper Glennon equaled her personal best in the 100 meter dash. The first-year ran 12.08 to place 14th. She followed it up on Saturday with a 13th place finish in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line at 25.31.
Lena Perlmutter and Peyton Lewis both placed 12th as Lehigh's top performers in their respective field events. Perlmutter placed 12th in the pole vault, clearing the 3.26-meter bar. Lewis earned her 12th place finish in the javelin throw, where she tossed the spear a personal record 36.58 meters.
Adelaide Videon-Perino ran a personal best time in the 400 meter hurdles to get day two underway. The sophomore ran 1:04.75, which placed her eighth.
All four of Lehigh's 3000 meter runners finished in the top 10 of the event. Grace Trimmer led the way in fourth in her outdoor debut of the event. The first-year ran 10:11.29, a 15-second improvement on her indoor best. It was also an outdoor event debut for Dakota Russell, who ran 10:22.66 to place sixth. Devin Sutton and Elizabeth Ehrhardt rounded out the Mountain Hawk squad. Sutton ran 10:25.33 to place eighth, and Ehrhardt placed ninth with a time of 10:26.59.
Lehigh placed both of their relay teams in the top five to conclude the meet. Schindler, Isabel Owens, Zoe Louis, and Mallery Sherrer's 4x800 meter relay team finished fourth, running 9:19.27. Videon-Perino, Bower, Faith Schiffer, and Maggie Scalzo made up the 4x400 meter relay team. The foursome ran 4:02.28 to finish fifth.
The Mountain Hawks next compete next weekend, with a pair of significant meets. They will host the Carol & John Covert Classic on April 24-25 at the Goodman Track and Field Complex. Lehigh will also head down to Philadelphia to compete at the historic Penn Relays from April 23-25.
