Lehigh Defeats Loyola Maryland 4-1 To Begin Patriot League Season

BALTIMORE, Md. – Patriot League season began for Lehigh men's tennis on Friday afternoon, as the Mountain Hawks traveled south to take on the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds. The Mountain Hawks earned a 4-1 victory away from home before returning to Bethlehem for another on Saturday.
Lehigh (7-7) returned to .500 after earning the doubles point and three singles wins. Matt Kleiman and Marc Blekhman got things started 6-4 win over Loyola (5-10) at number one doubles. Luke Donovan and Sean Jaeger fell in their bout at number three, but Jackson Morash and Wyeth Anzilotti's tiebreaker win at number two sealed the opening point for Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks earned their next two points in quick succession, as Jaeger and Kleiman both earned two-set victories within ten minutes of one another. Leading 3-0 in the match, Lehigh only needed one more win to clinch the victory. Morash dropped a heartbreaker in three sets at number four, but Blekhman's 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 win at number two secured the dual meet win for the Mountain Hawks.
The team returns to Bethlehem on Saturday, March 30 for the first home Patriot League match of the season against the Navy Midshipmen. Play is slated to begin at 11 a.m. from the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts.
