Mountain Hawks Fall 4-2 To Navy In Season's First Outdoor Home Match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After defeating Loyola Maryland in their Patriot League opener, Lehigh men's tennis played their first dual meet outside on the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts on Saturday against the Navy Midshipmen. The Mountain Hawks fell 4-2 in their outdoor home opener.
Lehigh (7-8) dropped the opening doubles point after Navy (20-11) won the first two matches at numbers two and three 6-0 and 6-4 respectively. Matt Kleiman and Marc Blekhman were leading 5-4 at the time of Navy's finish at number two, and their match at number one was left unfinished.
The Midshipmen struck first in singles play, claiming a point at number five courtesy of a two-set victory from Jeffery Etterbeek. The Mountain Hawks responded with a two-set win from Kleiman at number one, but Akineth Ayinala defeated Wyeth Anzilotti in two sets at number six to put Navy one point away from clinching the dual.
However, the Mountain Hawks weren't quite finished. Sean Jaeger earned a two-set win at number three while Jackson Morash led 5-2 in his second set after winning the first. Despite the late rally, Navy's win at number two gave them their fourth point and clinched the win for the Mids.
Lehigh returns to action at home on Sunday, April 7 for Senior Day. The Mountain Hawks will play host to the Colgate Raiders at 12 p.m. after honoring the team's seniors prior to play.
