Lehigh Dominates Singles Play In 4-1 Win Over Colgate On Senior Day
4/7/2024 8:20:00 PM | Men's Tennis
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a week away from competition, Lehigh men's tennis returned to the court on Sunday to host the Colgate Raiders on Senior Day. In addition to honoring seniors Jordan Paul and David Missry prior to the start of matches, the Mountain Hawks also earned a 4-1 decision over the Raiders to move to 2-1 in Patriot League play.
Lehigh (8-8, 2-1 PL) uncharacteristically dropped the opening doubles point, which is an area that the Mountain Hawks have excelled for much of the season. Colgate (4-13, 1-3 PL) found wins in a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak win at number one and a 6-2 win at number three to clinch the dual's opening point.
However, that would be the only point that the Raiders would earn on the day. The Mountain Hawks took care of business in singles play, starting things off with a two-set win for Marc Blekhman at number two. Sean Jaeger and Wyeth Anzilotti followed suit with two-set wins at numbers three and six respectively, putting Lehigh only one win away from clinching the dual. Matt Kleiman's two-set victory in the number one spot did just that to seal the deal for the Mountain Hawks.
Lehigh returns to action on Tuesday, April 9 for a non-league match against the Wagner Seahawks. Play is set to begin at 4 p.m. from the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts.
