Schwartz Signs Mihai and Winter to Class of 2030

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Howard Talmud '77 head men's tennis coach Craig Schwartz has announced the addition of two newcomers to the incoming class of 2030. Julian Winter and Patrick Mihai will head to campus and join the Mountain Hawks this fall.
Winter will join the program from Burgkunstadt, Germany and Gymnasium Burgkunstadt. Winter ranks within the top 200 of all German players and in 2025 was a finalist at the N4 and A7 tournaments while also winning an A7 tournament at the UTR GPA 3.9 tournament last May. While still in high school, Winter began studying law at the University of Bayreuth as part of a program for gifted students.
"My friend recommended this university to me," said Winter. "I think it's great that I can play tennis on a fantastic tennis team while studying at a university with high academic standards."
Mihai heads north from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Hilton Head Preparatory School, and Laurel Springs Online School. Mihai attained a UTR of 11.90, made the finals at the Battle of Boca, and holds wins over UTRs of 12.20 and 12.70. Academically, Mihai is a member National Junior Honors Society, finished high school with a 4.0 GPA and 4.38 weighted GPA, and was an academic trustee or headmaster honors throughout high school. Mihai's brother Alex plays golf at UC Santa Barbara.
"Lehigh aligns with my academic and athletic ambitions," said Mihai. "Coach Schwartz is great, there's a great family environment on the team, and the school has a beautiful campus with a lot to do."
