
Lehigh’s Homestand Continues with 14-10 Win Over Georgetown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Led by four-goal performances by senior Olivia Memeger and graduate student Gabby Schneider, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team picked up its fifth win of the season with a 14-10 victory over Georgetown at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Saturday's game was Youth Day and the Morgan's Message game, bringing awareness to mental health.
Graduate student Cassie Marte put herself within four for Lehigh's all-time career draws record, picking up nine on the afternoon while adding one goal, one assist, one ground ball and two caused turnovers.
Georgetown jumped out on a 2-0 lead before Schneider tallied her first goal of the game at 4:19 in the first quarter off a free position shot. The Hoyas netted another goal, taking a 3-1 lead into the second quarter.
The Mountain Hawks kicked off the second quarter with a 4-0 run, taking a 5-3 lead with just under eight minutes remaining in the half. Schneider tallied two goals in the run while Memeger and graduate student Emma Eberhardt chipped in one apiece.
The Hoyas responded to the run with three goals of their own, taking a slim 6-5 lead at intermission.
Lehigh entered the second half with momentum, going on a five-goal run over the course of the opening 11 minutes. Memeger tallied two while Eberhardt, Marte and first-year Grace Martel contributed one goal apiece as the Mountain Hawks led 10-6.
Georgetown netted two goals to round out the quarter but a fourth goal from Memeger gave Lehigh an 11-8 lead heading into the final quarter.
First-year Molly Snow put the Mountain Hawks up early into the fourth quarter off a free position shot before junior Angelina Pino scored her first goal of the season as Lehigh led 13-9. Schneider rounded out the day with the final goal as the Mountain Hawks secured the 14-10 win over Georgetown.
Senior goalkeeper Hayley Hunt had 15 saves, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Mountain Hawks (5-2) continue their homestand with a 12 p.m. matchup with No. 5 Loyola next Saturday at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The women's game is the first in a double header with the men's team as they host Bucknell at 3:30 p.m.
