Two School Records and Two Top-Five Finishes Highlight Day One

BOSTON, Mass. - The Lehigh track and field program kicked off day one of the Patriot League Championships on Saturday in Boston. Both men's and women's teams sit in sixth in the team standings.
SPRINTS/HURDLES
Sophomore Gianna Mangili broke the school record and took sixth in the 60m prelims with 7.66. Mangili is slated to run in the finals at 12:53 p.m on Sunday.
Senior Ashley Struck took seventh and fifth place in the 200m (24.90) and 400m (55.77) prelims, respectively. The 400m finals are scheduled for 12:39 p.m. tomorrow, followed by the 200m finals at 1:59 p.m.
In the men's 60m hurdles prelims, senior Dan Stipanov took sixth (8.20) and punched his ticket for the finals at 12:20 p.m.
Including Mangili's record-breaking mark, four student-athletes picked up PRs in the sprints and hurdles group. Junior Shelby Dejana moved to tenth all-time in the 60m hurdles (9.00), while sophomore Grace Kennedy bettered her second (56.85) and third (25.32) all-time marks in the 200 and 400, respectively.
Junior Patrez Thomas earned a PR in the 200m with a tenth all-time mark of 22.33. In his first Patriot League Championship, first-year Perry Addey picked up a PR of 51.31 in the 400m.
JUMPS
Sophomore Laura Reigle earned the first top-five finish of the day, placing third in the pole vault with a 3.90m jump.
Junior Jack Murphy picked up a PR of 4.45m in the pole vault.
DISTANCE/MID-DISTANCE
Senior Christina Yakaboski placed eighth in the mile with 4:55.13, earning a spot in tomorrow's finals at 12:11 p.m.
Six members of the women's squad claimed PRs in mid-distance/distance events, featuring two apiece in the 800m, mile and 5000m. Junior Riley Morrell (2:17.46) and first-year Siri Hellenbrand (2:19.78) earned PRs in the 800m. Junior Maddison Hayes and senior Lindsay MacLellan earned PRs in the mile with 5:04.80 and 5:57.67, respectively. Sophomore Elisa Brear logged a personal best of 17:59.54 in the 5000m while senior Abigail Terenio claimed a PR of 17:43.67.
The men's 4x800 relay consisting of first-year Danny Walter, first-year Thomas Smigo, sophomore Dan Malatesta and sophomore Alex Heidemann took fourth and earned the school record with 7:33.48.
Heidemann went on to earn a fifth all-time finish in the 800m with 1:52.21, while Walter grabbed one of his own with 1:54.57. First-year Noah Zahn PRed in the 5000m with 14:42.08.
MULTIS
Junior Gideon Coprivnicar and first-year Andrew Clark continue their heptathlon tomorrow with the 60m hurdles, pole vault and ending with the 1000m. Clark picked up PRs across three events, the 60m (7.42), shot put (9.62m) and high jump (1.68m).
THROWS
Junior Liam Lovering picked up one point with an eighth place finish in the weight throw with a throw of 17.23m. Sophomore Sharan Shankar earned a PR in the weight throw with 14.14m.
Day two is slated to start with field and multi events at 11 a.m. Sunday, followed by action on the track at 12:02 p.m.
