School Records and Medal Highlight First Day of Patriots

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Two school records and a medal highlighted the first day of the Patriot League Championships for Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving Wednesday at Lejeune Hall.Â
The 200-yard medley relay group of Jack DeVilbiss, Ben Kisker, Tim Norris and Aaron Williams set a new school record with a time of 1:28.17, while also leading the Mountain Hawks to a fifth-place finish.Â
Norris led Lehigh to another school record in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Norris, Elvin Lee, Connor Goodyear and Alex Patti are the new school record holders with a time of 6:36.11. They also picked up 48 points for the Mountain Hawks after taking sixth place.Â
The success didn't stop there in the relays as the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Willa Werwaiss, Sarah Hardy, Mairin Ludwig and Cailtin Deitch grabbed the first medal of the day for Lehigh, recording a time of 7:16.09. Although the four swimmers are guaranteed a medal, the medal that they are going home with has not been decided and will be determined tomorrow as there is a petition regarding the final results.Â
Hardy, Deitch, Noel Fresa and Danielle Prekop helped the Mountain Hawks bring 44 points home after finishing eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.40)
First-year diver Kate Whitaker punched her ticket to the three-meter dive b-finals in her first-ever Patriot League Championship and finished in 16th-place after scoring 240.00 points. Sarah Gill was in the c-finals and picked up two points after scoring 218.40 points.
After day one, the women sit in fourth place with 121 points and the men are tied with Boston University in fifth with 98 points.
Thursday's action will start at 10 a.m. with preliminaries, while finals begin at 6 p.m. Live coverage of the 2024 Patriot League Championships will be broadcast on ESPN+.Â
