ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Junior Willa Werwaiss picked up her second medal on day two of the Patriot League Championships, taking home silver in the 500-yard free with a personal best time of 4:50.71. Werwaiss was Lehigh's lone medalist on the day, but the Mountain Hawks had a ton of strong performances Thursday at Lejeune Hall.Â
After strong prelims, Lehigh had 14 finalists. Werwaiss, Sarah Hardy and Noel Fresa were the lone A-Finalists, while Mairin Ludwig, Darrah Shuff, Julia Stevens, and Caitlin Deitch all qualified for the B-Finals. Dagny Donaldson, Maggie Mikalic, Natalie Martin, Eliza Meth and Kelsey Thompson all qualified for the C-Finals.Â
The 500-yard free was the most successful event of the day for the Mountain Hawks as they had six swimmers across all three finals. While Werwaiss took second, Ludwig won the B-Final for the second straight year with a time of 4:51.96, which would have been good for third place if she qualified for the A-Finals. Trailing right behind Werwaiss in the 500-yard free was Shuff, who picked up a 12th-place finish for Lehigh (4:57.64).Â
The Mountain Hawks had a 20, 21, and 22 punch in the C final as Martin finished in 20th (4:59.73), Mikalic finished in 21st (4:59.81) and Donaldson finished in 22nd (5:01.36).Â
Hardy tallied a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:02.27). Stevens came in 16th with a time of 2:06.35 and Meth picked up her first points at Patriots with a 21st place mark (2:07.16).Â
Fresa came in eighth in the 50-yard free with a time of 23:61 and Deitch took home a 15th place finish (23:58).Â
The Mountain Hawks rounded out the day with a seventh-place finish as the 400-yard medley relay team of Werwaiss, Thompson, Hardy and Fresa finished with a time of 3:44.85.Â
After the second day of the Patriot League Championship, Lehigh sits in fourth place with 310 points.Â
