Mountain Hawks Extend Winning Streak With Win Over Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J - Lehigh's women's swimming and diving team hit the road for the second time this season to face Seton Hall. The Mountain Hawks won their fifth meet of the season, beating the Pirates 175-68. Lehigh dominated once again, winning eleven of the thirteen events.Â
The competition kicked off on the diving board, where junior Kate Whitaker swept both events. She handily won the three-meter dive, gapping the field by thirty points with a score of 253.05. At the one-meter height, she won with a score of 224.62. First-year Jayden Yochai finished second in that event, scoring 207.82.
Senior Mairin Ludwig and first-year Genevieve Cody were two of the top performing Mountain Hawks, battling each other along the way. In the 200-yard freestyle, Ludwig edged out Cody for first, swimming 1:53.24. Cody finished second at 1:56.14, and first-year Sophie Perry swam 1:57.46 to place third. Cody returned the favor over 100-yards, as she narrowly beat Ludwig, swimming 52.21 to the senior's 52.28. Lehigh swept the podium in that event, as first-year Giselle Michaels placed third (54.86). Ludwig also took the victory in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming 5:06.90
First-year Eliza Johnson was the only other Lehigh swimmer to take home two individual victories. In the 100-yard backstroke, she took the win in 58.55. Johnson also won the 200-yard individual medley, hitting the wall at 2:10.50. She was not the only Mountain Hawk to make the podium in that event, as junior Eliza Meth placed second with a time of 2:11.17. Meth also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke. That event was won by her teammate Zoe Davies, as the sophomore swam 1:06.93 to Meth's 1:08.74.Â
Senior Caitlin Deitch was the final individual champion for Lehigh. She placed first in the 100-yard butterfly, swimming 57.50.Â
The Mountain Hawks had a handful of podium finishes over the remaining individual events. In the 1000-yard freestyle, sophomore Claire Coughlin just missed the win to place second (10:44.49), and senior Caitlin Hofmann finished third (11:03.79). In the 50-yard freestyle, Michaels (24.51) was a half-second shy of first, and Deitch was just behind her (24.71) in third.
The Mountain Hawks once again swept both relay events. In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Johnosn, Davies, Deitch, and Cody took home the win in 1:45.98. With Michaels, Coughlin, Perry, and Juliana Guida teaming up, Lehigh swam 3:38.50 to win the 400-yard freestyle relay.Â
The Mountain Hawks are back at home for their next competition. They face Lafayette at Jacobs Pool on Friday, November 21 for this year's edition of The Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, part of Jefferson Health.
