BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The home opener for Lehigh's women's swimming & Diving team took place on Friday night against West Chester. The Mountain Hawks dominated the Rams, winning every event on the way to a 176-67 victory.

Mairin Ludwig had three of those wins by herself. The senior started off the night with a dominant performance in the 1000-yard freestyle. Her winning time of 10:26.54 gapped the entire field by 23.5 seconds. She followed that up with a 200-yard individual medley win, swimming 2:07.71. Ludwig finished her night with the 500-yard freestyle, beating all swimmers by at least 11 seconds with a time of 5:03.51. Right behind her was fellow Mountain Hawk Sophie Perry. This was the first-year's first-ever appearance in this event, and her time of 5:14.96 was good for second.

In the freestyle sprint events, it was a pair of first-years who led the field. Genevieve Cody took the win in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyles, while Giselle Michaels took second in both. Cody swam 24.18 over 50, and 52.32 over 100, while Michaels hit the wall at 24.81 in the 50 and 54.01 in the 100.

There were two events at the meet where the Mountain Hawks secured the top three spots. Senior Caitlin Deitch (1:56.59), Perry (1:57.24), and sophomore Claire Coughlin (1:58.91), secured the top three podium spots in the order listed in the 200-yard freestyle. Clara Moschella won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:56.59, and it was Deitch (57.35) and sophomore Annie Gao (59.50) placing second and third.

The remaining two swimming events were both won by Lehigh underclass swimmers. First-year Eliza Johnson secured a 100-yard backstroke win with a time of 57.21, and sophomore Zoe Davies won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.74.

The results were no different on the diving board. Junior Katie Whitaker won both the 3-meter and 1-meter diving events. Whitaker scored 252.98 in the higher dive, and 233.23 in the shorter dive.

The Mountain Hawks bookended the meet with a pair of relay victories. The relay team consisting of Johnson, Davies, Moschella, and Michaels swam 1:46.66 to win the 200-yard medley relay. Lehigh won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:34.7 to end the meet, and that team featured Deitch, Cody, Moschella, and Perry.

"This was going to be more about seeing where our women are right now, and they're in a great spot," head coach Rob Herb explained. "Every event was just a result of the continuous hard work that these women are putting in every day. It was a good result."

The Mountain Hawks are back in Jacobs Pool tomorrow to face the Rider Broncs at 1 p.m.
