
Mountain Hawks Set For Temple Invitational at 1912 Club

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team will play for the third consecutive weekend to open the fall. The Mountain Hawks will compete at the two-day, 36-hole Temple Invitational, hosted by Temple Saturday and Sunday at the 1912 Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

Lehigh will be one of 14 teams playing the par-70, 7,062-yard course in the third of six fall events for the Mountain Hawks.

Action begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with Sunday's final round is set for a 7 a.m. start.

The field includes two teams from host Temple, plus Colgate, Cornell, Dartmouth, Drexel, Francis Marion, Lafayette, Lehigh, Mount St. Mary's, Penn, Rhode Island, Rider and Saint Joseph's.

Ten of the 11 players on Lehigh's roster have played in one of the first two fall events. Senior Edmund Broderick and junior Jahan Bains are the only Mountain Hawks to have played in both the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational and The Doc Gimmler.

Broderick led Lehigh at Colgate's fall-opening event and was named Patriot League Golfer of the Week for his efforts. Graduate student David Hurly led Lehigh at The Doc Gimmler last weekend with a top-five individual finish. Lehigh has finished fifth out of 12 teams at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial and sixth out of 15 at The Doc Gimmler.

Lehigh's lineup for the Temple Invitational will include Hurly, Broderick, Bains, junior Aidan Oehrle and sophomore Paulius Malcius. First-year Matthew Quinn will play as an individual.

The upcoming Presidents Cup matches at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in New Jersey have been postponed to the spring. Following the Temple Invitational, Lehigh off until the Mountain Hawks compete at Binghamton's Matthews Auto Intercollegiate, Oct. 1-2 in Apalachin, N.Y.
