Cronin Leads, Quinn's Ace Highlight Day Two at Patriot League Championship

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Lehigh first-year Ryan Cronin will take a three stroke lead into Sunday's final round after shooting one under par 69 Saturday at the Patriot League Championship at the West Point Golf Course. Cronin's performance and a hole-in-one by junior Matthew Quinn highlighted the second round for the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh shot 297 for the second straight day, with its 36-hole total of 594 good for sixth place out of eight teams.

Cronin is at even par 140 (71-69) through 36 holes, with a three stroke lead over Army West Point's Tyson Sparks. In Saturday's round, Cronin made four birdies, including three straight beginning on 2-3-and-4, along with 11 pars and three bogeys.

Senior Will Caronchi shot 75 for the second consecutive day and sits in 21st place at 150. Caronchi made two birdies and was two under par through his first five holes.

Quinn's second round 77 was highlighted by the ace on the 191-yard, par-3 sixth hole. It's the first hole-in-one at the Patriot League Championship since 2017 when there were two, including one by Lehigh's Johnny Hsu. Hsu's ace was the last for Lehigh men's golf prior to Quinn on Saturday. Quinn added three birdies Saturday and is tied for 25th place at 152 (75-77).

Senior Aiden LeBlanc shot 76 Saturday with a birdie and 11 pars, and is tied for 29th place at 154 (78-76).

One stroke behind LeBlanc is senior Jake Roth, who is tied for 33rd place at 155 (76-79). Roth carded two birdies in Saturday's round.

Sophomore Noah Zyung shot 78 for the second consecutive day and is tied for 35th place at 156. He made one birdie in his second round.

Host Army West Point leads the team race at 579, with the Black Knights leading Lafayette by five strokes, while Loyola is third, seven strokes behind Army.

The Patriot League Championship concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes, beginning at 8 a.m. Lehigh will play with Loyola and Holy Cross with those tee times beginning at 9 a.m.
