PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – In the hunt entering the final day of play, the Lehigh men's golf team ended up in third place out of 12 teams as the John MacDonald Temple Invitational wrapped up Tuesday at the 1912 Club.
Â
First-year Nathan Le-Nguyen tied for fifth to lead the Mountain Hawks for their second straight tournament.
Â
Lehigh shot 292 Tuesday to finish at 868 (296-280-292). The Mountain Hawks finished six strokes behind host Temple, with the Owls posting an 862 to win their tournament. Delaware finished second, one stroke behind Temple.
Â
Le-Nguyen shot one over par 71 to finish at 213 (73-69-71), tying for fifth. He made two birdies plus an eagle one the par-4 eighth hole in his final round.
Â
Senior Matthew Quinn tied for seventh place at six over par 216 (74-68-74). Quinn made four birdies Tuesday with his second round 68 serving as the low round for the Mountain Hawks at the Temple Invitational.
Â
Sophomore Drew Golden shot 219 (72-74-73) and tied for 15th place. Golden made three birdies in his final round. One stroke behind Golden was sophomore Ryan Cronin, who tied for 19th at 220 (77-69-74). Cronin's final round included three birdies.
Â
Junior Noah Zyung tied for 47th place at 231 (77-75-79), with one birdie in his final round.
Â
Competing as an individual, junior Luke Block tied for 51st at 232 (75-75-82).
Â
'Overall, not the result we were hoping for," said head coach Dustin Meadows. "Whenever you are in contention in the final round you want to go out there and attack the golf course. I felt we did that really well for the first seven or eight holes and got down on ourselves a bit coming in.
Â
"Being together for two weeks now I'm excited about where we are. From last week to this week overall I think we improved. It's the small things, and little details in our mindset and game we will work on. This is a teaching and learning moment, and we are headed in a great direction. I can't wait for our next event at Lake Placid."Â
Â
Senior Charles Schrohe and sophomore Johshveer Chadha competed as individuals at The Gauntlet at Hawk Pointe Golf Club in Washington, N.J.
Â
Schrohe tied for fifth place at 145 (70-75), while Chadha shot 146 (72-74) and tied for seventh. Both players made three birdies in their final rounds.
Â
The Mountain Hawks will return to action at Columbia's Autumn Invitational, Oct. 3-4 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
