Hurly Earns Medalist Honors to Lead Lehigh At Temple Invitational

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – Graduate student David Hurly earned individual medalist honors to lead the Lehigh men's golf team at the Temple Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at the 1912 Club. Hurly shot four under par 66 in Sunday's final round to finish the 36-hole event at two under par 138 (72-66).
 
As a team, Lehigh finished sixth in a 14-team field with a score of 588 (296-292).
 
Hurly's final round 66 included five birdies and an eagle on the par 5 sixth hole. He posted a one stroke victory over Drexel's Oscar Maxfield, who bogeyed the 18th and final hole.
 
The win is the first of Hurly's career. Lehigh had three individual medalists during the 2022-23 season with Daniel Song winning at the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate and the Patriot League Championship and Jake Roth winning at the Alabama A&M Golf Classic.
 
Senior Edmund Broderick was Lehigh's No. 2 finisher, tying for 31st at 148 (73-75). Broderick matched Hurly with five birdies in his final round.
 
Junior Aidan Oehrle finished at 150 (76-74) and claimed 39th place. Oehrle carded three birdies in his final round.
 
Tying for 47th place was junior Jahan Bains at 152 (75-77). Bains made one birdie on Sunday.
 
Sophomore Paulius Malcius was Lehigh's fifth scoring player, and tied for 63rd place at 156 (76-80). Malcius made two birdies in his final round.
 
First-year Matthew Quinn competed as an individual and tied for 53rd place at 153 (80-73). Quinn's final round 73 features three birdies and was the second lowest among Lehigh players.
 
Drexel captured the team title at 566 (283-283) with the Dragons defeating Rider by six strokes.
 
After competing in three consecutive weekends, the Mountain Hawks will now be off until Binghamton's Matthews Auto Intercollegiate, Oct. 1-2 in Apalachin, N.Y.
