Lehigh Looks To Defend Title At Matthews Auto Intercollegiate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following its first weekend off in the fall season, the Lehigh men's golf team will be back on the course this weekend with the Mountain Hawks looking to defend their team title at Binghamton's Matthews Auto Intercollegiate, Sunday-Monday at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y.
 
The event will be the fourth of five fall tournaments for the Mountain Hawks, who return to the site of the first of their four team tournament titles during the 2022-23 season.
 
The Links at Hiawatha Landing play to a par 72 at 7,159 yards. Participating teams include Binghamton, Canisius, La Salle, Laval, LeMoyne, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary's, Niagara, Ottawa, Saint Joseph's, Saint Peter's, St. Bonaventure and Villanova
 
Lehigh last played at the Temple Invitational, Sept. 16-17 at the 1912 Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. The Mountain Hawks finished sixth in a 14-team field with graduate student David Hurly capturing the individual title, the first of his career, on the way to winning Patriot League Golfer of the Week honors.
 
Hurly will play in the top spot in Lehigh's lineup followed by senior Edmund Broderick, junior Aidan Oehrle, sophomore Will Caronchi and graduate student Sam Barton. Sophomore Aiden LeBlanc will compete as an individual.
 
Lehigh finished last year's tournament at one under par 575 (290-285). Daniel Song '23 finished second overall, while Hurly, Broderick, Oehrle and Barton all finished in the top 20 individually.
 
Action will begin at 9 a.m. on both Sunday and Monday.
 
Following the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate, the Mountain Hawks will close out the fall season when they host the Lehigh Invitational, Oct. 20-21 on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club.
