Bukhalo Named Academic All-Patriot League For Second Straight Year

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior Michael Bukhalo has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for men's tennis the league announced Wednesday. A double major in business information systems and finance, Bukhalo earned Academic All-Patriot League honors for the second consecutive year.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League teams, a student-athlete must have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 and be a key starter or player in their respective sports. First-years or students in their first academic year are not eligible for the honor. Bukhalo is one of six men's tennis student-athletes named to the team.

Bukhalo holds a cumulative 3.93 GPA for the Mountain Hawks. In addition to his Academic All-Patriot League award from last season, Bukhalo was recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete. He is a three-year member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and has made Lehigh's Dean's List with a GPA greater than 3.6 in each of his first seven semesters.

On the court, the Glenview, Ill., native posted a 4-3 singles record at the No. 6 flight and was 2-3 against Patriot League opponents. Bukhalo was 7-6 in doubles action and went 6-1 in the Patriot League regular season, including a 4-0 record playing alongside sophomore Sean Jaeger.

Bukhalo owns 26 combined career victories, 13 in both singles and doubles. He was an impressive 11-2 in doubles against Patriot League opponents.

The Patriot League Academic Awards are voted on by the league's sports information directors. Navy junior Sasha Panyan was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's tennis.
