
Lehigh Falls to Army West Point in Sunday’s Series Finale

After two and a half scoreless innings, the Black Knights put up four runs in the bottom of the third, starting with a Kevin Dubrule single up the middle to take a 1-0 lead. Ross Friedrick followed up with an RBI and Beaden Golinski doubled through the left side to give Army a 3-0 advantage. Golinski then scored on a double steal when he stole home and Coleson Titus stole second to end the scoring for the third inning as the Black Knights led 4-0.
Army extended its lead to 6-0 after Sam Ruta and Dubrule doubled one after another to score a couple of runs in the fourth inning. Lehigh got its first run of the game in the top of the sixth frame when junior Tyler Young raced home on a passed ball to cut the deficit to five runs, 6-1.

In the top of the seventh, Lehigh cut the Army lead to just two runs when fifth-year Casey Rother crushed a three-run home run to left field for his 10th homer of the season, making it 6-4. Golinski homered to center field in the bottom half of the seventh to push the Black Knights ahead 7-4. Whitlinger made a valiant effort in center field to make a play on the ball, but the ball and his glove fell over the wall for Golinski's round-tripper.

Lehigh plated a run in the top of the eighth inning to get back within a couple of runs, 7-5, when junior Andrew Nole doubled to right-center field to score junior Drew Morse. Lehigh had an opportunity to tie the game and take the lead with the bases loaded in the top on the ninth, but the final two Mountain Hawks when down swinging to fall to Army, 7-5
Rother and Nole each recorded three-hit performances on the day, with Rother going 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, his 27th of his career and 10th of the season, with three RBIs and a run scored. Nole went a clean 3-for-3, scored a run, drove in a run and drew a walk. Sophomore Rafe Perich had two hits with a double while five other Mountain Hawks reached base safely to combine for 13 hits.

Golinski went 4-for-4 for Army with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored while Derek Berg, Ruta and Dubrule each produced two hits in the game. Three other Black Knights recorded base knocks for a total of 13 hits.
Junior Teddy Tolliver (L, 1-1) got the start in the third and final game of the series, going three innings with four runs on seven hits and four strikeouts before first-year Cole Leaman entered out of the bullpen and tossed one inning and gave up two runs on three hits. Senior Ben Christian tossed 2.1 innings and allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts and three walks before classmate Ryan Deom was summoned in the bottom of the seventh. Deom threw the final 1.2 innings of the game with just one hit and did not allow a run.
Two pitchers threw for the Black Knights with Matthew Ronnebaum (W, 3-2) starting on the mound and going six innings with one run on seven hits and seven strikeouts. Robbie Buecker (S, 1) earned his first save of the season when he threw the final three innings and allowed four runs, none of them earned, with six hits, five strikeouts and a walk.
The Mountain Hawks will remain on the road when they take on Coppin State in Baltimore on Wednesday, April 12 in a non-league game. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
