
Three-Match Road Swing Begins With Weekend Matches at West Point

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team is gearing up for a stretch of three key Patriot League matches over a five-day span. The Mountain Hawks will head to West Point, N.Y. this weekend for a pair of matches as Lehigh will face Army West Point Friday at 2 p.m. and Boston University Saturday at noon. After a couple of days off, Lehigh will cap the three-match road swing with a visit to rival Lafayette, Tuesday, April 11 at 4 p.m.

Lehigh is 9-7 overall and 2-1 in Patriot League matches. The Mountain Hawks suffered their first league loss at Navy last Saturday and then rebounded with a 4-3 victory over Villanova Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. First-year Wyeth Anzilotti delivered the clinching win at No. 6 singles with senior Jeremy Learner and first-year Jackson Morash also delivering singles victories. The Mountain Hawks also swept the doubles matches in the victory.

Anzilotti moved to 4-1 in singles play with his win Sunday. Sophomore Marc Blekhman leads the Mountain Hawks with a 12-4 singles record. Learner and junior Jordan Paul are (x-4 together in doubles action with Paul leading the team with 10 doubles victories.

Army West Point is 16-10 overall and 4-0 in the Patriot League. The Black Knights split two matches Sunday, beating Hofstra and falling to NJIT.

Lehigh won the regular season meeting with Army 4-0 last season on the Ulrich Varsity Courts before the Black Knights knocked the Mountain Hawks out of the Patriot League Tournament semifinals. Last year's Lehigh victory snapped a 10-match losing streak against the Black Knights.

Boston University is 10-10 overall and 2-1 in league action after defeating Bucknell and Colgate last weekend. Lehigh has won the last three meetings in the series, including a 4-0 win last April in Bethlehem.

On Tuesday, Lehigh will visit Lafayette for the annual rivalry match. The Leopards are 2-8 overall and 1-2 in Patriot League action. Lafayette lost at home to Saint Joseph's 6-1 on March 29 and will face Marist and Bucknell this weekend prior to Lehigh's visit.

Lehigh has won 12 straight in the rivalry, including the last six by 7-0 sweeps.

Following this three match stretch, Lehigh will close out the regular season when the Mountain Hawks host Bucknell on April 15 at 11 a.m.
