Lehigh Captures 13-9 win over Boston University on Senior Night

4/15/2023 10:14:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's lacrosse team defeated Boston University 13-9 in an important victory, with the regular season coming to an end soon. The Mountain Hawks also recognized eight of their seniors postgame.

Lehigh improved to 9-5 (4-3 PL), while the Terriers dropped to 7-8 (2-5 PL).

Boston University would strike first, but Lehigh scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter to help take a 4-1 lead with 3:00 minutes to play in the first frame. The Terriers scored with one second left in the quarter to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Three of those four goals for Lehigh were scored by Emma Eberhardt, who had led the way on Saturday with four goals.

Eberhardt also dished out an assist and was one of three players to record five points on Saturday. Katia Carnevale and Olivia Memeger also finished with five points. Gabby Schneider had four of her own points.

Lehigh's early tone helped set the way for the rest of the game.

Boston University's Jayne Feeney scored with 8:49 to play in the second quarter, but that would be the first and only goal the Lehigh defense allowed in the second quarter as the Mountain Hawks led 7-3 at halftime.

While both teams scored six goals in the second half, Lehigh's lead would be enough to hold onto the win.

The Terriers cut the Mountain Hawks lead to three multiple times, but Lehigh stood strong and answered any time it was needed.

Schneider scored her second goal of the game with 28 seconds left to put the exclamation mark on Lehigh's third straight league victory.

Boston University had 14 turnovers on Saturday compared to 11 from Lehigh. Emma Fiore caused two of those. Fiore also recorded a goal of her own Saturday and added three draw controls. Eberhardt also had three draw controls for the Mountain Hawks.

Despite Boston University holding a 15-9 advantage in draw controls, Lehigh had 27 shots, while the Terriers had 23 shots.

Hayley Hunt had seven saves for Lehigh and Reilly Agres had six saves for the Terriers.

Maddie MacMaster led the Terriers with four points (3G, 1A).

The Mountain Hawks will take on Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., on April 22 at 1 p.m. This will be Lehigh's final road game of the Patriot League regular season.
