3/31/2023 10:07:00 AM | Men's Tennis

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team will have its first two-match weekend in more than a month as the Mountain Hawks will travel to Navy in Patriot League action Saturday before returning home to host Villanova in a non-league match Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Mountain Hawks have won both of their matches since returning from their spring break trip to Florida as Lehigh defeated Loyola and Colgate to open league play at 2-0.

Last weekend, Lehigh (8-6) swept the doubles point and then won the first four singles matches to finish, building a 5-0 lead before Colgate won the final two matches.

First-year Jackson Morash delivered the clinching point with his win at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Marc Blekhman won again at No. 3 singles. Blekhman has won nine straight singles matches to improve to a team-leading 12-2 in singles play. He and Sean Jaeger are 5-2 this season at No. 2 doubles, while senior Jeremy Learner and junior Jordan Paul own a 6-3 mark at the top flight.

Navy is 12-17 on the season. The Midshipmen defeated Boston University 4-2 in their league opener last weekend. Navy is the defending Patriot League champion in men's tennis.

Saturday's match will begin at 1 p.m. from the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis, Md.

On Sunday, Lehigh is back home to host Villanova at 10 a.m. The Wildcats are 6-10 and are coming off a 7-0 loss at St. John's Wednesday. Lehigh has won the last two meetings in the series, including a 5-2 victory last March in Bethlehem.

Next weekend, Lehigh will head to West Point, N.Y. to face Army on Friday April 7 and Boston University on Saturday April 8.
