Hardy Captures Silver Medal, Lehigh Continues to Climb Up in Standings

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lehigh women's swimming and diving team continued to set records and rack up plenty of points on day three of the Patriot League Championships at Kinney Natatorium on Friday. Senior Sarah Hardy picked up the first medal of the championship meet for the women.Â
Hardy won the silver medal in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:19.64. Hardy's second-place performance tallied 17 points for Lehigh. Danielle Prekop and Hannah Lord also gathered three more points in the 400-yard IM for the Mountain Hawks. Prekop came in 15th (4:30.72), and Hannah Lord finished in 16th (4:36.83).
Junior Julia Stevens set a school record in the 100-yard butterfly Friday morning in the prelims and broke her record in the A-Finals Friday night. Stevens was just one spot shy of a podium finish. She came in fourth (54.33) and brought home 15 more points for Lehigh. Senior Ashley Carper also scored seven points for Lehigh. She finished second in the B-Final, which was good enough for a 10th-place finish (55.92).
First year Mairin Ludwig got to the A-finals and brought home an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, scoring 11 points (57.15). Sarah Manthorp came in 11th, Willa Werwaiss captured 13th and Fresa came in 16th.Â
In the last individual event of the day, senior Hallie Wilson recorded 12 points for Lehigh in the 100-yard backstroke after coming in seventh. She finished with a time of 56.62.Â
Lehigh won the 200-yard freestyle relay consolation with a time of 1:34.13. Fresa led the way, and Caitlin Deitch, Manthorp and Stevens anchored the group.Â
The Mountain Hawks are now in fifth place with 223 points heading into the final day of the Patriot League Championships. Â
Navy leads the way with 543.5 points.Â
