Hardy Sets School Record on Day Two of Patriot League Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lehigh women's swimming and diving team had an eventful and successful day two of the Patriot League Championships at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium on Thursday. Senior Sarah Hardy led the way with a school record in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 2:01.69 in the prelims.

Hardy recorded a seventh-place finish in the 200 IM finals. She picked up 12 points for Lehigh with a time of 2:03.25.

Lehigh's busiest event of the day was the 500-yard freestyle. Lehigh had four swimmers in the B-Final, and Willa Werwaiss was the lone Mountain Hawk in the A-Final. Werwaiss won 13 points for Lehigh after finishing in sixth place with a time of 4:55.13. Mairin Ludwig, who was less than half a second away from being in the finals, came in ninth and won the consolation finals, tallying nine points for Lehigh with a time of 4:53.94.

Dagny Donaldson came in 12th,  Natalie Martin came in 14th and Maggie Mikalic picked up a point with her 16th-place finish.

In the 200-yard IM, Julia Stevens was the only Mountain Hawk in the B-Finals. She finished in 12th (2:09.29). 

Noel Fresa was the only Lehigh swimmer in the 50-yard freestyle. Fresa came in 11th with a time of 23.57. Fresa swam the exact same time in the prelims and the finals. 

Sophomore Sarah Gill continued her success on Thursday. She came into the finals as the sixth seed but was able to get up to a fifth-place finish at the end, scoring 272.15 points and bringing home 14 points for Lehigh. 

The last event of the day for the women was the 400-yard relay, which brought home another seventh-place finish. Hardy, Danielle Prekop, Julia Stevens and Fresa were all on the relay team, which brought home 24 points with a time of 3:47.20.

The women are now in sixth place with 121 points. They sit only four points behind Boston University with two days left to go.
