Mountain Hawks to Face First League Road Test Saturday at No. 17 Navy

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Playing its first true road game in exactly one month, Lehigh travels to No. 17 Navy Saturday for the Mountain Hawks' first Patriot League road game. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., with coverage on ESPN+. Lehigh will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Saturday's game is a rematch of last year's Patriot League quarterfinal, won by Lehigh 13-12 in overtime on a goal by Nora Giordano.

Last time out, Lehigh fell at home to UC Davis, 13-11 on Tuesday as the Aggies sed a five-goal third-quarter surge to turn a 6-5 deficit into a 10-6 lead, which proved too much for the Mountain Hawks to overcome.

Junior Katia Carnevale led the offense with five goals and two assists for her 12th career hat trick, while classmate Gabby Schneider scored three goals for her fourth hat trick of the season (and 10th of her career). Junior Cassie Marte impressed in the midfield with career highs in groundballs (5) and caused turnovers (4), along with four draw controls.

The Mountain Hawks opened with three of the game's first four goals, scored by juniors Emma Eberhardt, Carnevale and Schneider. UC Davis responded with six seconds left in the first quarter and turned that into a 3-0 run with two goals in the first 1:17 of the second to take a 4-3 lead. A game of runs saw Lehigh answer with three of the next four bridging the first and second halves, as a Carnevale goal at 13:36 of the third quarter broke a 5-5 halftime tie.

However, the Aggies answered in a major way, scoring five unanswered to end the quarter, a run that extended to 6-0 early in the fourth.

Navy carries a 7-2 record into Saturday's game. The Midshipmen posted three straight victories, including wins over ranked foes Drexel and Johns Hopkins to move into the top 20 of the national rankings at No. 17. Navy's three game winning streak was snaped in a 13-12 loss to Georgetown at home on Wednesday night. The Mids are 1-0 in Patriot League play with a convincing 15-3 home win over Bucknell on March 19. Reagan Roelofs leads the Navy offense with 28 points, including a team-high 20 goals. She also has a team-leading 47 draw controls. Kasey Dietzel leads the Mids with 12 assists. Jo Torres has started all nine games in goal for Navy and boasts an 8.72 goals against average and .496 save percentage.

Lehigh has won the last two meetings against Navy but the Mids hold a 13-6 lead in the all-time series. Last year's 12-7 regular season victory in Bethlehem snapped an 11-game winning streak for Navy in the series. The Mountain Hawks then won their second straight against the Midshipmen with their 13-12 overtime win in the Patriot League Quarterfinals. Lehigh is playing at Navy for the first time since March 28, 2018. The Mountain Hawks have lost their last four games in Annapolis with their last win at Navy coming in 2011 by a 15-13 score.

Lehigh will conclude its two game road swing through the academies as the Mountain Hawks travel to Army West Point Wednesday in a rematch of last year's Patriot League semifinal. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m. from Michie Stadium. The Mountain Hawks will then return home to face Bucknell April 2 at noon.
