BETHLEHEM, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team picked up its first win over Navy since 2011, beating the 21st-ranked Midshipmen 12-7 to earn the program's seventh straight Patriot League Tournament berth. Lehigh scored the game's final six goals to turn a 7-6 deficit into a runaway victory. The Mountain Hawks improve to 5-3 on the season, 4-1 in the Patriot League. Lehigh finishes 3-1 in its division to earn the No. 2 seed in the South. The Mountain Hawks' final two regular season games – at Lafayette and vs. American – will factor into their overall Patriot League Tournament seeding.
"Our team was deserving," said Lehigh head coach Jill Redfern. "Lots of credit to our coaching staff for a solid game plan. Our players played hard and are talented. We're relieved to be in the tournament, which is our ultimate goal."
Sophomore Katia Carnevale led the offense with six goals while graduate student Sondra Dickey added four goals and an assist, along with three groundballs, three draw controls and four caused turnovers. Sophomore Gabby Schneider recorded two goals and three assists while classmate Emma Eberhardt dished three assists.
Defensively, senior Hannah Cermack caused three turnovers, including a big caused turnover with 4:29 remaining and the Mountain Hawks ahead 9-7.
Dickey went on to score three straight goals – with 12:53, 9:26 and 5:58 remaining – to put Lehigh ahead 9-7. After Cermack's big caused turnover, Carnevale scored on a tough angle via a free position, then scored again. Schneider rounded out the scoring with 1:02 remaining for the 12-7 final.

The Mountain Hawks held early leads of 2-0 and 3-2 before Navy took its first lead at 4-3. The teams traded leads through the remainder of the first half and beginning of the second. The Mids used a two-goal surge to take a 7-6 advantage midway through the stanza, but that's when Dickey took over. How about this caused turnover by Hannah Cermack in crunch time today?!
