Spring 2021 Lehigh Football Preview: Special Teams

As March begins Lehighsports.com will be taking a position-by-position look at the Lehigh football team, which will play a four-game Patriot League schedule in the spring of 2021. The Mountain Hawks, under the direction of second-year head coach Tom Gilmore, will open the 2021 spring season March 13 versus Holy Cross at Goodman Stadium.
Our series concludes with a look at Lehigh's special teams.
With the graduation of Austin Henning, who delivered a strong senior season in 2019, Lehigh will introduce a new placekicker and punter for the 2021 spring campaign. Sophomore Dylan Van Dusen handled kickoff duties as a freshman and could be primed for a larger role. The Mountain Hawks have added two freshmen specialists: Ben Banks-Altekruse can kick or punt, while Daniel Simpson will compete for the punting job.

Helping the young specialists along is veteran snapper Jack Dean.

In the return game, senior Jorge Portorreal and sophomore Zaythan Hill had opportunities last year and could figure in again. Sophomore Jalen Burbage and freshman Donovan Lassiter will likely have increased roles in the return game among others.
