
Mountain Hawks show improvement on day two of UConn Invitational at GreatHorse

HAMPDEN, Mass. – The Lehigh men's golf team posted a strong 22-stroke improvement over its round one score, carding an impressive 295 on day two of the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse on Monday. Three Mountain Hawks were within one stroke of even par on Monday as Lehigh moved up into a tie for 11th place at 612 (317-295).
Junior Ryan Kelly and freshman David Hurly led the way for the Mountain Hawks, with rounds of even par 72. With Lehigh starting from the 10th hole Monday, Kelly came out with four birdies in his first six holes. He is now tied for 21st place at 150 (78-72). Hurly carded a team-best five birdies Monday, including three on his second nine holes. He is tied for 39th place at 152 (80-72).
Freshman Sam Barton turned in a strong 73 that featured three birdies and four bogeys as he moved into a tie for 39th place at 153 (80-73).
Senior Owen Quinn shot 78 Monday and is tied for 58th place at 157 (79-78), while freshman Alex Aurora carded an 80 and sits at 167 (87-80) and is in 81st place.
Lehigh's individual, freshman Joey Dotta, followed his opening round 78 with an 80 and is tied for 61st place at 158.
Behind a second consecutive round of 292, Columbia has taken the team lead at 584, four strokes better than Lafayette.
Hartford's Ryan Tomaso shot one under par 71 and continues to hold the individual lead at 138 (67-71). He leads Martin Vanhaelst of Lafayette by three strokes.
The UConn Invitational at GreatHorse concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes. Lehigh will play with Canisius and Sacred Heart, going off from the 10th hole beginning at 8:35 a.m.
