Dickey named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week as Mountain Hawks host Columbia Tuesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a career performance on Saturday, Lehigh women's lacrosse junior midfielder Sondra Dickey was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week on Monday. Dickey enjoyed a tremendous game in Lehigh's 15-7 win over UMBC, posting a career-high six goals and adding an assist for a seven-point performance. She also had three groundballs, three draw controls and a game-high three caused turnovers versus the Retrievers. Dickey and the Mountain Hawks will return home on Tuesday to host Columbia at 3 p.m. on the Patriot League Network.
Dickey recorded a natural hat trick during Saturday's contest, coming at a pivotal time. Her three straight scores turned the game from a 6-6 tie into a 9-6 lead. This performance sparked a 9-1 Mountain Hawk run to end the contest.
Dickey leads Lehigh in goals (14), points (18), groundballs (tied, 8), draw controls (17) and caused turnovers (10) on the season. She has recorded multiple goals in each of the Mountain Hawks' four games this season.
Standing 2-2 on the young season, Lehigh's next matchup is Tuesday when the Mountain Hawks host Columbia (2-3, 0-1 Ivy League). Lehigh has won its last two games handedly after dropping its first two contests of the season. In addition to Saturday's 15-7 win versus UMBC, the Mountain Hawks defeated Saint Francis (Pa.) 19-4 on Feb. 23.
Also enjoying a tremendous game versus UMBC was sophomore Hannah Cermack, who had three goals and two assists. It marked her second straight five-point game and first-career hat trick. Cermack leads the Mountain Hawks in assists with eight on the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Sagi has made all four starts for Lehigh and has 41 saves on the season. Sagi has allowed just 11 goals in her last two games and owns an 11.15 GAA and 50.0 save percentage on the season.
Columbia is coming off a two-game losing streak, dropping back-to-back contests at No. 14 Princeton and versus San Diego State. The Lions' wins this season have come vs. Siena and Arizona State. Senior Lindsey Ewertsen leads the Lions in goals (10) and points (16) while senior Emily Manville leads in assists with seven. Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Schlageter has allowed 43 goals this season and holds a 17.2 GAA and a 37.7 save percentage.
Last season, Lehigh defeated Columbia on the road in thrilling fashion, winning 13-12. Then-sophomore Dickey scored the game-winning goal with just 12 seconds remaining in the contest.
Following Tuesday's game, the Mountain Hawks will travel to San Diego for their final two games before Patriot League play. Lehigh faces San Diego State on Sunday, Mar. 10 at 3 p.m. ET (12 p.m. locally) before facing UC Davis on Tuesday, Mar. 12 at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. locally). Lehigh returns to home action on March 16th when it hosts Boston University for its first league contest of the season.
