PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Storms rolling through the Philadelphia area cut short the final day of the Saint Joseph's Invitational Sunday, as the Mountain Hawks had two players in the semifinals in flight one singles.

Looking to reach the semifinals in flight one singles were George Cooper and Harry Wang. Cooper, who started having to play in the first-round, won his first match in three sets, taking the first set in a tie-breaker 7-6 (5) before dropping the second set 2-6 while an extended third set saw Cooper come out on top 15-13. In the second round, Cooper battled through another three-set rally. Much like the first round, Cooper won the first round, winning 7-5 before seeing a 2-6 loss set up the final set. Another extended set was in store for Cooper, as he had to battle for a 10-8 victory. The quarterfinals saw yet another three-set battle for Cooper, this time around featured a first set loss of 5-7 before coming up with a 6-4 win in set two and a 10-7 victory in set three. Coming into the semifinals, Cooper was set to face Dylan Flanagan of Villanova.

Much like Cooper, Wang had to take the long road, starting off with a first-round matchup that was won in three sets. Wang took a 6-3 first set before losing 3-6 in the second. He was able to rebound in the third, winning 10-2. The second round saw Wang win easily with a walk out. In the quarterfinals , Wang battled to a two-set win, with a 7-6 win in set one and a 7-5 victory in set two. Advancing to the semifinals, Wang was set to face Tyler Roth of Villanova.

"I thought overall we had a good tournament. What stood out to me was two of our student-athletes (Cooper and Wang) reached the semifinals of the A bracket, which they unfortunately could not play in as the tournament was canceled on the final day due to inclement weather," said head coach Wouter Hendrix. "Both guys played at a very high level. I'm impressed by the distinctive leadership all four captains are providing to our team. This is a fun group of guys that is internally motivated and wants to achieve prominence. We're excited to keep improving and are grateful for the privilege of representing Lehigh."

Flight two singles featured Bryant BornJacob Edelchik and Gary Fishkin. Both Born and Edelchick began the tournament in the first round, with Born winning his first match in two sets 6-1,7-5 before falling to Charlie Schullis of Villanova in two sets in the second-round 6-3,6-1. Edelchik went up against Oskar Lusti of Lewis in the first round but was defeated in two sets 7-5,6-4. Fishkin began to play in the second round, but was unable to advance, falling to Tommy Dodson of Villanova in two sets 6-2,6-2.

Two Mountain Hawks were featured in flight three singles. Starting in the first round was Christopher Auteri, who won in three sets. Falling 2-6 in the first set, Auteri rallied to win 6-3 in the second set and 10-8 in the third set. Auteri would fall in the second round to Youssef Lahlou of Drexel in two sets 7-6(5), 6-2. Jack Martin-Dyer started off with a second-round match which saw him win in two sets 6-3,6-3. Moving to the third round, Martin-Dyer went up against Gustave Wogen of Drexel, Wogen would win in two sets 6-3,6-2.

In flight four singles, both Sam Bencheghib and  Andrew Nakhjavan went to work. Bencheghib started off with a first-round match which saw him fall in two sets 6-1,6-1. Nakhjavan, who started off in the second round, also fell in two sets, with a pair of 6-3 defeats.

In doubles play, the Mountain Hawks had two groups competing in the top flight, with Edelchik and Martin-Dyer paired up along with Wang and Cooper battling together. The second round saw Edelchik and Martin-Dyer start their day in doubles, however, they weren't able to progress past that stage, as they fell 8-1. Cooper and Wang also began to play in the second round, as they picked up a well-earned victory with a 9-7 win to move to the quarterfinals where the pair fell 8-6 however.

In flight two doubles the pair of Auteri and Born were able to advance to the second round after an 8-3 victory but were unable to progress farther after losing 9-7.  Zack Elliot and Gary Fishkin started off in the second round with an 8-5 victory before losing in the quarterfinals 9-8 (2).
