Â
Coming off its best offensive performance in over a decade with a 27-2 win at Saint Peter's on Wednesday, Lehigh (19-26, 7-14 PL) has won three of its last five games over the last week, including two-straight heading into the weekend. The Black Knights (27-20, 15-6 PL) won four of their six games in the past week and are coming off a 12-4 loss at Villanova on Wednesday. The Crusaders (17-21, 11-10 PL) are 2-4 in the last week, but posted an 8-7 walk-off win over Bucknell on Tuesday to clinch a Patriot League postseason berth.
Â
Matt Ratner and Jason Reynolds are slated to get the starts on Saturday at Army. Ratner is coming off a near-perfect performance last Saturday against Navy in which he recorded nine strikeouts in a one-hit, complete-game shutout victory. Reynolds suffered a tough-luck loss in which he allowed just two runs in 7.0 innings of work last Saturday.
Â
Ratner and Reynolds will go head-to-head with Army's Tyler Giovinco and reigning Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, Dan Burggraaf. Giovinco struck out five batters and scattered four hits in a seven-inning, complete-game shutout victory in his previous appearance against Lehigh this season. Burggraaf surrendered one run on six hits while striking out six as he earned the win in a six-inning appearance against the Mountain Hawks earlier this year.
Â
Levi Stoudt and Peter Moore are slated to start on Sunday at Holy Cross. Stoudt fell victim to yet another tough-luck loss in a 3-1 setback to Bucknell last Sunday as he fanned seven batters and surrendered three runs in his third complete-game appearance of the season. Moore is coming off a brilliant relief appearance from game two last Sunday in which he tossed 8.2 scoreless innings, striking out nine and walking just two, while surrendering just four hits.
Â
Lehigh will face Declan Cronin and a starter to be named later in Sunday's doubleheader at Holy Cross. Cronin struck out nine batters and walked two as he held the Mountain Hawks to just three hits in an 8-0 victory earlier this season.
Â
Mike Maguire has been the hottest offensive threat for Lehigh as of late, leading the team in hits with a .462 batting average over the past week and has reached base safely in seven-straight games heading into the weekend.
Â
Chris Kersey enters the weekend three points behind Lafayette's John Marti who paces the Patriot League with a .345 batting average. Kersey ranks third in the league in on-base percentage (.435) and ranks second in doubles (14).
Several Mountain Hawks are in position to rewrite the Lehigh record book heading into the final weekend of the season. Offensively speaking, Kersey needs just three more doubles to crack the top-five in the single-season rankings and two more triples to tie for the single-season record. James Bleming is already fifth all-time in career games played with 188 and cane move into a tie for third if he plays in all four games this weekend.
Â
On the mound, Stoudt needs eight more strikeouts to crack the single-season top-five rankings. Ethan Frohman already has the fourth-most saves in a season with five this year and will need two more to move into a tie for third place. The reliever already has sole possession of second place in career saves with 11.
