BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Owen Quinn wrapped up an impressive effort at the Lehigh Invitational Saturday, winning the individual title as the Lehigh men's golf team finished the 13-team tournament in sixth place at the Saucon Valley Country Club. The Mountain Hawks shot an identical 306 on Saturday as it did on Friday, finishing the tournament at 612. Quinn was the only individual to shoot under par for the tournament, shooting 143 (68 on Friday and 75 on Saturday), which was four strokes better than anyone else.

Michael Tanaka was another bright spot for the Mountain Hawks. The freshman finished the tournament in a three-way tie for second place (taking third due to tiebreaker), shooting three over par 147 (72 on Friday, 75 on Saturday).

"Owen played a great tournament and for Michael, it was his best finish by far," said head coach Henry D'Alberto. "I believe Owen's best golf is yet to come. I think he can win 4-5 times in college. As for the team, we didn't have a great weekend, but we're definitely trending in the right direction and we should have a very good spring.

Iona won the Lehigh Invitational team championship, finishing at 605. Monmouth came in second (607) followed by Navy (609), Bucknell (610), Siena (611) and Lehigh (612). The Mountain Hawks finished ahead of seven teams, including three Patriot League squads – Colgate (613), Holy Cross (617) and Lafayette (631).

After Quinn and Tanaka, senior Eamon Marone finished tied for 29th at 155 (84 on Friday, 71 on Saturday), junior Ryan Kelly tied for 39th at 157 (78 on Friday and 79 on Saturday), senior Lee Hammerschmidt tied for 55th at 161 (79 on Friday, 82 on Saturday) and senior Max Redetzke tied for 58th at 162 (81 on Friday, 81 on Saturday).

"We have some work to do for the spring," said D'Alberto. "We lost a couple of our better players at the end of last year, but sixth place in every event we've played and we haven't played our best golf yet, I think the spring can be even better."
