BETHLEHEM, Pa – The Lehigh men's golf team looks to carry its momentum from the fall into the spring season, which begins this weekend at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate in Palm City, Florida. The Mountain Hawks are one of 13 teams that will play 54 holes over three days on the 6,802 yard, par 72 Osprey Creek Course at Martin Downs Golf Club.

Junior Owen Quinn led the team's efforts during the fall season, where he was named October's Patriot League Golfer of the Month after boasting a top five finish in three tournaments. Quinn finished tied for 11th place at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational hosted by Colgate. Quinn posted top five finishes at Binghamton and UConn tournaments and capped his fall season by winning the individual title at the Lehigh Invitational Tournament, where he shot 143, including an opening round 68.

Freshman Michael Tanaka came on late in the fall, placing third overall at the Lehigh Invitational with a score of 147 while competing as an individual.

Junior Ryan Kelly continued to build success stemming from his sophomore campaign, where he was named first team All-Patriot, averaging 75.32 strokes on the season. Kelly placed third at the Patriot League Championships last spring. This past fall, he placed in the top 10 at the UConn Invitational, shooting 73-77-73 for a total of 223.

In the eighth annual rivalry match versus Lafayette on Oct. 16, seniors Lee Hammerschmidt, Eamon Marone and Max Redetzke all played a part in the Mountain Hawk's reclaiming of the President's Cup. Hammerschmidt's play earned Lehigh two total points in the contest while Marone gained 1.5 as the duo defeated Lafayette's Cole Berger and Will Halamandaris. In the singles portion of the matchup, Redetzke halved his match with Berger. Lehigh finished sixth in all four of its fall tournaments.

Lehigh will be playing in the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate for the second straight season. Last February, the Mountain Hawks finished eighth in a 10-team field, with Quinn tying for 35th place and Hammerschmidt and Kelly also competing.

This year's 13-team field features Appalachian State, Boston College, Chattanooga, James Madison, Mercer, Purdue Fort Wayne, Samford, Seton Hall, South Dakota, VCU and Villanova in addition to Lehigh and hosts UNCG.

Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

The Mountain Hawks' spring schedule has them playing a second tournament in Florida in March, the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, before competing in invitational tournaments at Lafayette, Villanova and Navy in consecutive weeks. The regular season concludes with a match versus rival Lafayette at home at Saucon Valley Country Club on April 23.

The spring season wraps up with the Patriot League Championship tournament, which will be hosted by Colgate in Hamilton, New York, on April 27-28. Last spring, the Mountain Hawks hosted the tournament, where they finished fourth as a team behind Kelly's individual third place finish.
