PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team bounced back from an opening-round 296 with a round of even par 280 in the afternoon as the John MacDonald Temple Invitational got underway Monday at The 1912 Club. The Mountain Hawks were one of two teams to shoot even par in the afternoon, the low round of the day, along with host Temple. At 576, Lehigh sits one stroke behind Delaware entering Tuesday's final round.

Individually, first-year Nathan Le-Nguyen and senior Matthew Quinn are both tied for fourth place at two over par 142. Le-Nguyen shot 73-69 with three birdies in each round, while Quinn shot 74-68. Quinn totaled nine birdies Monday, including five in round two.

Le-Nguyen and Quinn are two strokes behind co-leaders Travis Robertson of Temple and Harry Cohen of Drexel.

"Today with the wind being higher than expected I think it caught the field off guard," explained head coach Dustin Meadows. "It took us a while to settle into the tournament. We didn't help ourselves in the first round with some unforced errors. The key, as with any team, is how you respond. I think Matt got us going a bit and Ryan (Cronin) and Nathan did what they do best on tough days which is grind out a number. I'm very proud of Drew (Golden), he didn't have his best stuff, but if 74 is his bad day I'll take it. He hung tough. If we don't beat ourselves tomorrow and just worry about what's in front of us we will have a good chance at playing some special golf."

Sophomores Drew Golden and Ryan Cronin are both tied for 18th place at 146. Golden shot 72-74 with six birdies, including four in round one. Cronin rebounded from a 77 to shoot 69 in the afternoon. Cronin made five birdies and an eagle on the par 5 sixth hole Monday afternoon.

Junior Noah Zyung is tied for 38th at 152 (77-75). Zyung totaled four birdies on Monday.

Competing as an individual, junior Luke Block is tied for 33rd place at 150 (75-75). Block carded four birdies, two in each round.

Lehigh also had two players competing at The Gauntlet at Hawk Pointe Golf Club in Washington, N.J.

Senior Charles Schrohe leads a 66-player field at two under par 70, making an eagle, a birdie and 15 pars. Sophomore Johshveer Chada shot even par 72 and is tied for seventh place. Chada totaled four birdies in his debut round.

The John MacDonald Temple Invitational and the Gauntlet both conclude with 18 holes Tuesday.
