Lehigh Men Roll Over Lafayette for Senior Day Sweep

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks continued their reign of supremacy in The Rivalry with their third-straight sweep of Lafayette and extended the win streak to eight-consecutive matches against the Leopards with a 7-0 victory at home on Wednesday afternoon. Lehigh honored its four seniors prior to the match and all four claimed victories in singles play in their final Patriot League match on their home courts. The Mountain Hawks improve to 6-11 overall and 4-2 in league play, while Lafayette falls to 5-13 overall and 1-5 against league competition.
Lehigh began the dual by sweeping the doubles competition, including a point-clinching 6-2 victory by the senior pairing of Ethan Bogard and Colin Nardella at the No. 2 flight. Bogard and Nardella are now 6-10 this season and 3-2 in league play.
George Cooper and Graham Lehman continue to stay hot since joining forces as the pairing picked up another win at the top flight to improve to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in league play. Jack Petersen and Jack Martin-Dyer also found continued success with a 6-2 victory at the third flight as they advance their mark to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the Patriot League.
Bogard led things off in the singles competition as the first player and senior to notch a win on the day. The New York native surrendered just one game as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Drew Rooks at the fourth flight. "Bogie" improves his team-leading record to 8-4 on the season, including a 3-1 mark in league play.
Fellow senior and doubles partner, Nardella, also made quick work of his competition as he claimed the second victory for LU on the day. "Nards" swept up Andrew Reed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the third flight. The New York native is now 7-8 overall this season, 4-1 in league play and posted his first victory at the No. 3 flight this spring.
Tyler Hansen made it three-straight singles wins for both Lehigh and the senior class with his match-clinching victory at the fifth spot. The California native looked strong in his return to the lineup with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Paul Caruso. The win is Hansen's first this spring as he missed most of the season due to injury.
Lehman concluded the senior class' dominance on the day with the fourth-straight singles win by a LU senior as he played at the sixth flight. The Illinois native posted his first league victory of the season with 6-1, 6-3 win over Chris Kim to improve to 2-3 overall.
Petersen pushed Lehigh one step closer to a sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Mason Keel at the No. 2 flight. Petersen is 6-11 overall and 4-2 in the league. Cooper battled through lower body pain and a tough opponent to capture an epic three-set victory to clinch the sweep for his team. Cooper defeated Blake Oslan 10-7 in the third set as exhaustion set in. The LU No. 1 is now 6-10 on the season and 3-3 in league play.
The Mountain Hawks face a tough weekend ahead as they hit the road for two matches. First up will be a stop at Temple for an 11 a.m. match on Saturday before heading to Bucknell on Sunday for the final Patriot League dual of the season starting at 2 p.m.
