LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – In its final tournament before the Patriot League Championship, the Lehigh men's golf team used a strong afternoon effort to tie for fourth place out of 14 teams at La Salle's Finegan Invitational Monday at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. The Mountain Hawks bounced back from a morning score of 314 to shoot 291 in the afternoon and finish at 605.

The afternoon round of 291 matched the lowest in the one day, 36-hole tournament. Lehigh tied with Delaware for fourth place, 19 strokes behind team champion Longwood (295-291-586). The Lancers beat Drexel by one stroke, while Villanova finished third at 601. The Mountain Hawks and Blue Hens finished six strokes clear of Rhode Island and Lafayette, who tied for sixth place.

The trio of junior Billy Johns, sophomore Eamon Marone and freshman Ryan Kelly all tied for 33rd place at 156. Johns totaled five birdies in back-to-back rounds of 78. Marone posted a first round 80, then bounced back with an afternoon 76, highlighted by an eagle on the 17th hole. Kelly overcame a tough opening round 82 with a solid second round 74.
