Mountain Hawks Land 23 on Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh football team placed 23 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, announced Friday. Senior offensive lineman Micah Tennant led the Mountain Hawks with a 3.96 GPA last fall. Sophomore wide receiver Matt Gargano followed behind Tennant with a 3.89 GPA in the fall semester.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be listed on the team roster.
Tennant and Gargano were two of five Mountain Hawks to make Lehigh's Dean's List with a GPA over 3.6 in the fall. A trio of linebackers rounded out the top Mountain Hawk performers in the classroom. Sophomore Jake Buskirk earned a 3.70 GPA in business, fellow classmate Brian Olshanski earned a 3.62 GPA in finance, and senior Evan Kauffman tallied a 3.65 GPA in psychology.
Tennant and senior defensive lineman Jimmy Mitchell have already garnered awards for excellence in the classroom as they were named to the Academic All-Patriot League team in November. Tennant also garnered first team Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA in December.
A total of 197 football student-athletes were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll led by Holy Cross' Jake Wieczorek who was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year for football.
