
Lehigh opens Patriot League play against Loyola at home Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following an 11-day layoff from match action, the Lehigh men's tennis team will get back on the courts Sunday at 12 p.m. when the Mountain Hawks host Loyola in the Patriot League opener inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
Lehigh carries an impressive 9-1 record into the league opening showdown against Loyola. The Mountain Hawks have won seven straight matches and their only loss of the season came in the form of a 4-3 decision to Stony Brook on Feb. 12. Lehigh has captured four 7-0 sweeps this season and looks to carry its momentum into league play.
Sophomore Jack Petersen and junior Ethan Bogard have yet to be defeated in singles play as the two hold respective records of 9-0 and 7-0. Freshman George Cooper has put together a strong 7-1 singles record, while senior Jeremy Kochman has gone 6-3 at the top flight of singles. Kochman, who typically teams up with junior Graham Lehman or senior Ricardo Prince, has also gone 8-1 at the top flight of doubles.
Loyola is currently 7-3 on the season and will play La Salle at home Friday afternoon before heading to Bethlehem Sunday. The Greyhounds' three losses came against Mary Washington (8-1), Bethune Cookman (5-2) and Morgan State (4-3), while Loyola has earned wins over Chestnut Hill (4-3), Rose-Hulman (6-1), Wartburg (9-0), Augustana (6-1), John Carroll (6-1), Davenport (5-2) and Saint Peter's (6-1).
The Mountain Hawks blanked Loyola 7-0 in last season's meeting in Baltimore, Md. Lehigh won all doubles and singles matches en route to the win.
Following Sunday's match against the Greyhounds, the Mountain Hawks will remain home to host Temple Wednesday in the team's non-league finale before traveling to Navy next weekend for Lehigh's first road match of the season.
