Lehigh Captures Road Win at Loyola

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team picked up a 171-129 road victory at Loyola on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks collected nine victories on the afternoon including three from Jacob Moyar, and one each from Nico Lastauskas, Justin White, Jamal Willis, Zach Tieke, Jimmy Davey, and the 400 free relay team. With the win, the Mountain Hawks improve to 2-2 (1-1 Patriot) on the season.
 
Lehigh collected runner-up finishes in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes from Dean Shafritz and Walker Wilson, respectively. Wilson additionally took third place in the 100 back with his time of 53.61.
 
Tyler Christ took the second spot in the 100 breast in 1:00.09 and Lastauskas took runner-up in the 200 breast with his time of 2:13.46. Christ also cracked the top three in the 200 breast with a third place time of 2:13.55.
 
Lehigh took the top two spots in five different events on the day, including the 100 butterfly with Davey (52.81) and Tieke (53.13), while Moyar grabbed one of his three wins on the day in the 200 fly (1:54.23).
 
The Mountain Hawks dominated the field in the freestyle by winning all five individual events, with Willis (20.99) and White (21.15) finishing one-two in the 50 free. Tieke took home the top spot in the 100 free (46.57), followed closely behind by White (46.87). The same duo also landed on the podium in the 200 free as White took home the top prize (1:42.72) and Tieke finished third (1:45.04).

Lehigh swept the podium in both the 500 and 1,000 yard freestyles. Moyar paced the field in the 500 with his time of 4:49.57, followed by Daniel Brooks (4:51.73) and Ryan Morgan (4:58.36). Lastauskas led the field in the 1,000 by touching the wall in 9:55.31, followed by Justin Kostelnik (10:10.73) in second and Mauk (10:16.41) in third.

Moyar's final win of the day came in the 200 IM, where he bested the field in 1:54.45.
 
The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Tieke, Wilson, Willis and White tallied the win with their combined time of 3:10.20. The 200 yard medley relay team also scored team points with a second place time.
 
On the boards, Croly Veliz finished second on both the one (206.77) and three meter (215.10) boards.
 
The Mountain Hawks will return to the pool next Friday and Saturday in New Jersey at the Princeton Invitational.
