Men's Tennis Competes at Competitive Farnsworth Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Lehigh men's tennis team competed at the challenging Farnsworth Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Friday through Sunday.
Freshman Jack Martin-Dyer competed in the No. 1 singles draw. The freshman went 1-1 on the weekend and earned a 6-4, 6-1 win before falling in the semifinal round.
Sophomore Christopher Auteri played in the No. 5 singles draw. Auteri received a first-round bye before picking up a 6-4, 6-3 victory to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinal match, Auteri fell in three sets to Dusan Vukicevic of St. John's who went on to win the No. 5 draw.
Junior Dylan Karchere-Sun also played in the No. 5 singles draw. The junior fell in three sets in his first match. Karchere-Sun then went to the consolation bracket where he picked up two wins before falling in the consolation final.
Junior JackPetersen competed in the No. 2 singles draw. He suffered a defeat in his first match and then fell in three sets in his first match of the consolation bracket.
Senior Tyler Hansen and sophomore George Cooper each played in the No. 3 singles draw. Both suffered losses in their first matches and then lost their first matches in the consolation bracket.
Seniors Ethan Bogard and Colin Nardella both competed in the No. 4 singles draw. Both Bogard and Nardella suffered two-set loses in their first matches. In the consolation bracket, both players took their matches to the third set. Bogard fell 12-10 in his third set and Nardella surrendered a 10-8 victory to his opponent in the third set of his match.
Senior Graham Lehman and sophomore Sam Bencheghib both played in the No. 6 singles draw. Lehman lost his first two matches, while Bencheghib fell in his first match, received a forfeit in his first consolation match and lost his second match in the consolation bracket.
Bogard and Nardella teamed up to compete in the A Doubles draw. The pairing scored an 8-7 victory in their first match before falling 8-6 in their second.
Karchere-Sun and Hansen paired up to compete in the B Doubles draw. The two earned an 8-4 victory in their opening match, but fell 8-3 in their second match to Sinan Orhon and Kashyap Ashok of Drexel who went on to win the draw.
Cooper and Petersen combined to play in the C Doubles draw. The pairing won their opening match, 8-4, and picked up an 8-3 win to advance to the semifinal where they ended up falling 8-5.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action next weekend in the Patriot League Kickoff. Lehigh will host the two-day tournament which is slated to begin on Saturday, October 15.
