Men's Tennis Claims Multiple Titles at Patriot League Kickoff

RESULTS
BETHLEHEM, PA. – The Lehigh men's tennis team produced three individual champions and one doubles champion at the Patriot League Kickoff on its home courts this weekend.
Sophomore George Cooper took home one of the individual titles as he competed in the No. 2 singles draw. Cooper dominated his first two matches with consecutive 6-0, 6-2 victories before defeating his teammate, Christopher Auteri, 6-2, 6-4 in the final match. Auteri went 2-1 on the weekend with a 6-2, 2-6, 13-11 victory in his first match followed by a 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 victory in his semifinal match.
Senior Colin Nardella went 3-0 on the weekend and earned the No. 3 singles title. Nardella won convincingly in his first match by a score of 6-1, 6-1. He then won back-to-back three-set matches beginning with a 4-6, 7-6, 10-5 victory in the semifinal followed by a 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 win over his teammate, Ethan Bogard, in the title match. Bogard reached the title match with a 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 victory in the first round, followed by a 6-3, 6-0 win in the semifinal match.
Senior Tyler Hansen earned the No. 4 singles title with a 3-0 record on the weekend. Hansen started with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in his first match, followed by a 6-3, 6-1 win in his semifinal match. The senior then earned a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory in the title match.
The Mountain Hawks swept both sides of the bracket in the No. 2 doubles draw. The pairing of Jack Martin-Dyer and Jack Petersen rolled through the main draw with three-straight 6-4 victories to claim the No. 2 doubles title. The pairing of Cooper and Sam Bencheghib teamed up and took home the No. 2 consolation title. Cooper and Bencheghib fell 6-3 in their first match before receiving a walk over in their first consolation match and then capped off their weekend with a 6-1 in the consolation final.
The Mountain Hawks will wrap up the fall slate with a trip to Yale for the ITA Regional Championships. Competition in New Haven, Conn. will begin on Thursday, October 20 and conclude on Monday, October 25.
