Lehigh Women Dominate in 221-75 Victory Over Rider

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's swimming and diving team capped off its home opening weekend with a blowout performance over Rider on Saturday in a 221-75 victory at Jacobs Pool. The Mountain Hawks compiled 10 individual victories on the day with two relay wins as eight different swimmers captured individual wins.
Meghan Thompson posted two individual wins on the day as she placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.79 and won the 500 freestyle at a pace of 5:09.47.
Courtney Ferreira also posted two wins on the day with a time of 1:08.97 in the 100 breaststroke and a time of 2:11.76 in the 200 IM.
Abby Thomson placed first in the 1000 freestyle with a winning time of 10:47.66. Tori Connolly placed second in the event with a time of 10:57.73.
Kelly Carroll placed first in the 100 butterfly with the top time of 58.26 and finished second in the 200 freestyle.
Rachel Rider won the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.90, while Kaitlyn Ruffing placed second at a pace of 1:00.58.
Julianne Koch placed first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:07.00 and placed second in the 50 freestyle. Payton Miles won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.15.
Loeva Palu-Benson placed first in the 200 breaststroke with a winning time of 2:29.04, while Marissa Wagner placed second with a time of 2:32.44.
Cora Summerfield captured the win in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:11.15. Kate Bergin took second in the event with a time of 2:13.16.
Nicole Shek, Palu-Benson, Carroll and Ruffing teamed up to win the 200 medley relay with a top time of 1:48.35. Koch, Miles, Ferreira, Ruffing combined to win the 400 freestyle relay with a winning pace of 3:33.73.
The Mountain Hawks will resume competition on November 5 at 1 p.m. in a Patriot League dual against Loyola.
