Mountain Hawks Head to Loyola for Patriot League Clash

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's swimming teams will look for its first Patriot League victory on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on Loyola. The meet is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
The women's team has reeled off two straight victories to improve to 2-1 after dropping its first meet to Boston U in the season opener. The Mountain Hawks cruised to a 225-75 victory in their last meet against Rider on October 23. Lehigh tallied 10 individual victories on the day with two relay wins as eight different swimmers captured individual wins.
Junior Meghan Thompson posted two individual wins on the day as she placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.79 and won the 500 freestyle at a pace of 5:09.47.
On the men's side, Lehigh comes in at 1-2 on the year with the lone win coming against West Chester. The Mountain Hawks dropped a 157-127 battle against Rider, but had some strong individual performances.
Senior Jacob Moyar had a first place finish in the 500 freestyle with winning time of 4:43.16 while freshman Walker Wilson contributed a 1000 freestyle victory.
Loyola was picked to finished sixth, right behind Lehigh, on the men's side in the preseason Patriot League poll, while the women were picked to finish seventh. The Greyhounds are off to a strong start as both teams have begun the Patriot League portion of their schedules 3-0 with wins over American, Colgate, and Lafayette.
The Mountain Hawks have yet to lose to Loyola, posting a 3-0 mark all-time against the Greyhounds.
Following the Patriot League battle, Lehigh will return to action next weekend when the Mountain Hawks compete in the Princeton Invitational. The two-day event is set to start at 8 p.m. on Friday.
