Mountain Hawks Fly Past West Chester in Home Opener

RESULTS
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team picked up its first win of the season in a convincing 173-121 victory over West Chester on Friday night at Jacobs Pool. The Mountain Hawks are 1-1 on the season, while the Golden Rams fall to 2-2. Lehigh totaled nine individual victories and two relay wins on the night.
"The men had a balanced victory led by the strength of the upperclassmen combined with the excitement of our first year swimmers," stated head coach Rob Herb. "Our veterans showed again how their leadership has brought this team to a new level of success. This was a big win for our men."
Seniors Jacob Moyar and Justin White led the way with a combined six individual victories on the night. Moyar recorded a time of 9:50.46 in the 1000 freestyle, recorded a winning pace of 1:54.59 in the 200 butterfly and finished with a time of 4:42.05 in the 500 freestyle. White put down a time of 1:42.74 in the 200 freestyle, posted a winning time of 21.38 in the 50 freestyle and recorded a time of 46.95 in the 100 freestyle.
Walker Wilson claimed two victories on the night with a time of 51.60 in the 100 backstroke and posted a winning pace of 1:53.20 in the 200 backstroke.
Zach Tieke placed first in the 100 butterfly with a winning time of 52.03 and placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.71.
Justin Kostelnik captured a pair of second place finishes with a time of 1:46.25 in the 200 freestyle and a time of 1:57.69 in the 200 IM.
Jamal Willis placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.44 while Nico Lastauskas placed third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:06.84.
The Mountain Hawks claimed the top spot in the 400 medley relay as the foursome of Wison, Tyler Christ, Moyar and White recorded the winning time of 3:27.44.
The Brown and White also claimed the top spot in the 200 freestyle relay as Tieke, Danny Brooks, Kian O'Brien and Willis produced the winning pace of 1:26.78.
The Mountain Hawks return to Jacobs on Saturday for a dual meet against Rider at 1 p.m.
