Lehigh Swimming and Diving Set for Home Opening Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving teams will open its home slate this weekend with a pair of dual meets. The Mountain Hawks will face NCAA Division II West Chester on Friday at 5 p.m. and then square off against Rider on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Jacobs Poll.
The Mountain Hawks are off to 0-1 starts on both the men's and women's side this season following losses in the season and Patriot League opener at Boston University on October 8.
Senior Jacob Moyar opened his season with a trio of victories in the 1000 free, 200 fly and 500 free. Senior Justin White also looked strong on the men's side with a pair of wins in the 50 free and 100 free to go with a second place finish in the 200 free.
Senior Kaitlyn Ruffing came out of the gates strong for the women as she captured a pair of wins in the 100 free and 50 free. Sophomore Courtney Ferreira also earned two victories in the season opener by placing first in the 200 free and 200 IM.
West Chester is the defender Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Champions for both the men and the women. Both the men and women are off to 2-1 records to start to the season with wins over Shippensburg and Southern Connecticut State in the season-opening tri-meet, followed by a losses to NYU last Saturday.
Rider was picked first in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on the men's side as the Broncs are five-time defending MAAC Champions. The women are also expected to have success season as they were selected second in the preseason MAAC poll. The men are off to a 2-0 start to the season with wins over George Washington and Fairfield, while the women are 1-1 to start the season with a loss to George Washington and a win over Fairfield.
